Sounds like a generator to me. Very few 1337 speakers use symbols.

leet speak goes way back to like the bbs/irc days. Its was just so us interwebs geeks could have our own form of language the untrained person could not understand. Its rather simple. The problem is people have come up with so many different ways to represent letters it can be difficult to read fluently. I dropped 1337 a long time ago because it lost its a appeal

Yeah, the more simply 1337 speak is mostly letters and numbers, its almost an art to use only symbols.
