Hi, I just joined this forum and am really excited to be here! I'm a 27-year-old Californian, currently in the United Kingdom working on a PhD in Psychiatry. I've been gaming since the days of the NES, but my primary video game passion is....Guitar Hero! :mvguitar:

I sadly have no gamertags because I don't have the right consoles/hookups; I'm not even in the right country, seeing as I'm playing an American PS2 in a European country, but once I finish my PhD and move back to the States I'll definitely be getting online one way or another.

For the past couple of months I've been hanging out on ScoreHero (webforum for dedicated Guitar Hero players) and I feel ambivalent about being one of the few girls there. I don't usually advertise the fact that I'm a girl because I don't want to be judged on the basis of my gender, but on the other hand, there are so few of us that I sometimes do feel like I should celebrate the fact that I'm a girl. So when I found out about PMS Clan (PMS Wedge is well-known over on ScoreHero and she kindly encouraged me to post here) it just seemed like a really great community to be a part of.

My interests outside of video games pretty much fall under the categories of 'domestic' or 'geeky'. I like music, books, movies, and some TV shows (basically anything Joss Whedon touches or endorses is the gospel to me, haha). I read just enough comic books to scare non-geeks but not enough to be hardcore. I also LOVE food of all cuisine types, baking, eating, trying out restaurants - even just looking at recipe books and pictures of food is enjoyable to me, which is great because my husband happens to be an excellent cook. On a typical evening you'll frequently find me playing Guitar Hero while he cooks dinner - how's that for breaking the gender mold? :mvwink:

Anyway, that's more than enough about me. I hope to be able to contribute something to this community, and I look forward to getting to know more of you!

Welcome to the forums and the community at large. I am about to finish my recruitment as an H2O and am hoping I'll be accepted. This, however you look at it or choose to be involved with, is a truly great place to make friendships and have fun gaming. Win/win. Be seeing you around.

Ever,

Hi there! Good to hear of some more people in England - Not necessarily from England or staying in England but in England. Cambridge is pretty posh, hope it's treating you ok. Comic books are great, especially american ones like Love Hina (huge fan)! So you could say i'm a geek too =D

When you do get your console on the internet, if you have a 360 feel free to add my Gamertag =]

OOOH I didn't know you were a foodie too! I am as well - I love cooking, eating, going out to eat, reading about food, watching the food network, etc... that's great!

I'm so glad you are here, I think you'll really love the community here!

Thanks so much for the warm welcome, everyone!

Arwen: I play on Expert, but I actually don't have GH3 yet! I know - it's a travesty! But this will be fixed soon because I'm in the process of importing GH3 for my PS2 so I can start practicing.

Nurse Violet: Sadly I don't have a 360. Totally planning on getting one, but don't think it will be before I return to the States. Cambridge is treating me alright - it's definitely on the posh side but perhaps because I'm American I'm totally captivated by all the old buildings and the sense that this place is connected to so many great thinkers from the past. In California we consider anything old if it was built before 1950!

Wedge: A disturbing amount of my daily planning and thought processes revolve entirely around what I'm going to eat next. Like even if I've just eaten lunch and am totally full, I can't be 100% productive until I've figured out what I'm going to do for dinner! I think I may have a problem.:mvwink:
