Mouse: Razer DeathAdder or Logitech G5.

I've used both and I LOVE the ergonomics on the DeathAdder and its rubberized feel. It has amazing tracking which won't skip. (Laser sometimes has tracking issues, optical doesn't) I also love the color scheme of black with blue lights. The G5 has great ergonomics for everyone but me, has a tilt wheel and sensitivity buttons (which I bind to other keys), has a weight cartridge (I didn't use it, because the mouse is heavy enough already!) and a rope-braided cord (makes the cord pull less on the mouse.) The G5 suffers from tracking issues IF the right mousepad is not used due to laser. However it will track (not perfectly) on anything: your foot, the floor, your jeans, the wall, etc. Good for mobile use actually. I like the blue-and-black powerade look, but don't like the bumpy weird grip.

Logitech G5v2

Keyboard: Logitech G15v2

I've used both versions of the Logitech G15 and loved them both. The G15v2 has a nice orange backlight which is easy on the eyes. I use it to track my temps, my game stats, the time, etc. I don't use the macro keys. Its just an all-around good keyboard. A little bulky though.

Mousepad: Razer Mantis SPEED or Everglide Titan.

Both mousepads are nice, and there is admittedly little difference between the two. The Titan is ten bucks cheaper at $15. The Titan comes in either all black or Orange and white (Fnatic edition, pictured). The mantis (get speed, not control) is black and green. They both purportedly use the same "Fibertek Weave" cloth, but the Titan is noticeably rougher. The tracking on both is superb and they're both HUGE!

Headset: I use the mic off a Plantronics .350 (don't get) For sound I use Sennheiser HD212s. ANYTHING Sennheiser, even the $20 HD202s are AMAZING. They sound incredible. The problem is, buy 1 pair buy 4 because everyone will want them!

Controller: I am not an Xbox owner. I use the Xbox 360 wired controller because its just very good and they are now making games controller-compatible with it in mind. If you prefer the PS2-dualshock style, the Logitech Corded (or cordless) rumblepad is nice too. For joystick, I use a Saitek St290pro because it was only $20 and I never use joysticks anymore. If you are looking to need a joystick for lots of use, consider the $100 X-52 HOTAS system. For me? I'm flying high with my Saitek Yoke and rudder pedals.

CPU: Intel! Intel is CHEAP, fast, and overclockable. (Notice I Said cheap and fast, I have used both, loved my old AMD at the time, but currently they just aren't cutting it in comparison)

Graphics card: Same as above. AMD loses against Nvidia here. Get an 8800GT. or 9600GT (if you can't afford the 88)You can play Crysis with good graphics and your wallet won't die.

Monitor: Samsung is great. I personally have a 22" monitor with built-in HDTV.

LOL, the Razer was pretty cheap actually (It was $50, when most top end mice are $80-$100) ...the monitor however, most definitely WASN'T! Actually, I was trying to ditch my old 27" HDTV because the aliasing and quality on Vista was terrible. I needed an HDTV to play my Wii on though, so got this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001238&Tpk=2280HD

DeathAdder: http://www.amazon.com/Razer-DeathAdder-Infrared-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B000MF67VO/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1204058176&sr=8-2 ($42 now)

Well, my Bro has a 19" Acer widescreen LCD and I can't believe it, but the color is actually BETTER, so if you could score a 19" Widescreen for cheap, it is a bit of an upgrade. An avg. 22" costs $300. Mine costs $500 because it has an HDTV tuner in it. You can easily get a 19" WS for $180.

Ive heard good things about the Tarantula. Very responsive supposedly, although I think the concept of addons is amazingly stupid. They should include lights FREE and it should be inside the keyboard, not a lamp sticking.

Also, I am so bad about eating at my puter, but the real problem is dust and dirt. I live in Arizona and you CANNOT KILL THE DUST! omg.

well the BattleLight isnt' just for Razer items.....it can go with any keyboard, and its more for if someone can't afford a laptop w/ a light on it. and the Tarantula does have backlighting on it...all their keyboards and mice are lighted :D
