Blehk. So I'm totally not used to guys thinking girls can't play video games (I just got a xbox 360, I wasn't lucky enough to get a xbox earlier).


A few nights ago I started playing Halo 2 Live, and I was playing CTF. Now I usually don't talk during games, since once people realize I'm a girl, they usually won't listen to me and we lose (So unless we really need to strategize, I won't talk at all). Twords the middle of the game, I started talking because we were getting our butts kicked, and it turns out they were all the kind of guys that think girls can't play video games. I got the usual kind of crap (Go cook/clean, go knit, etc...) but I can easily ignore that. But at the end of the game I had finally grabbed the other team's flag and made it close to our base without anyone providing any help of any kind. I was right near our base with 2 seconds left in the game and I was so sure I was going to make it, and then my team would realize that maybe girls can play video games. Well, it turned out that the guys on my team are total jerks, and my own teammate shot me before I could reach the base and we lost the game. Ontop of that our other team mates congradulated him :mad:

Has anyone else had problems this bad?

Thats my favorite thing to say when im playing with at least 1 girl and they act like that (i say it sarcastically of course). Its sadder than ever because alot of the time for me it sounds like the guys are around their 20s and 30s which you expect to be more mature. I think pretty much every single girl that has played an online video game has been through stuff like this though so try to ignore it the best you can.

i'm extremely sorry about what happened to you. it happens a lot and fortunately or unfortunately, i'm there to witness most of it. i hate hearing kids talk that way to girls, so, i always stick up for them. i'm so sorry. if you ever want to play a game, or you just need someone to play with, feel free to send me a friend request. we'll get those kids back........i promise.

Guys can be stupid. Plain and simple. And like Buddy said, these kids can probably bearly interact with girls in real life, let alone on silly video game. You just have to let it roll off your back, play the game and try not to get fustrated. As easy as that sounds, I know how hard it can be. Until I became involved in this community I never really knew what it was like to play with guys and NOT have them be jerks. My suggestion would be to meet some people here and start playing with them. All (well most) of the guys here are great!

During the day it's the little kids who think it's cool to swear female derogatory terms at you. Or if you're on the west coast like me, and play at night you're lucky enough to run into the older frat boy types who assume we're all fat ugly lesbos.

Fortunately the 360 has a much better feedback system, but unfortunately halo 2 doesn't and is still full of <sarcasm>great guys</sarcasm>. Not that every chick I've run into is always a swell gal, but typically I assume she's just as tired of the b.s. on halo 2 as I am, and I cut her some slack.

For those who have yet to realize this, Xbox Live is the arena for lowbrow jokes/insults/behaviour. When people manage to start talking crap during an UNO match, something is messed up. It's UNO for crying out loud. UNO!

I wish that the matchmaking could be restricted to people in your own zone, this probably woudn't help that much, but most of the utter retards seem to find their home in either Pro or Underground, which would be best avoided completely.

I rarely gloat in the game but that was somethin i was proud of. So anywayz after they respawned they were like "Since you're a girl, the only way u killed us is cuz u cheated. I saw u pull out a sword."

I think the boiz got a sticky grenade mixed up for a sword i dunno. They were about 10 or 11 but it goes to show how immature some ppl will be just cuz ur a girl.....

It happens in all games where there isn't a Host who can boot people out. Used to happen in Rainbow 6 dedicated servers all the time.

What was funny though is when someone would come into our dedicated server and start that stuff and be like "hahaha you can't do sh!t about it!" Then someone would say "hahaha you wanna bet?" and he'd be booted. The host would play in his own server using a second xbox, connection, and account. It'd always be a different person letting the guy know he's about to be booted, that way only people in the clan knew who the actual host was.

Something similar happened to me.
I was playing against a girl on Sanctuary and the whole round all's she could do is trash talk me and call me the usual names heh. And I was doing better.
Some people just trash talk. It's how they are they hide behind the game.

Well i don't really have Xbox live and probably won't get it for a couple of months (I hope i get it) and have not experienced this magnitude of critsizm to females. I am fourteen and don't even talk to people most of the time unless they r my friends. I do see critisizm to females and other guys but reading from u people have said makes me rethink how much little kids don't know and how much they r being corrupted by they're parents. I play online games and hear really bad stuff like racism, too. I am not the best lookin guy in the world but i still have respect towards other people especially female players. Sorry you wasted a game there. Anyway - not all guys are like that - but there is no accounting for stupid - it always finds it way in to mess things up. And some guys are just as dumb to other guys - some seem to find more fun greifing than playing.

Yeah, it seems like the only way to have a good time is to go into games with people that you trust. I just played halo for about three hours and only got trashed on once by the other team. It didn't really bother me though, it actually was kind of funny. We were sitting in matchmaking waiting for a game, and of course some jerk comes in and says...

My partners quit and they where talking so much crap to me. I am not sopposed to name names but one guys name was "Women Cant Vote".
He didn't talk much bit his friend did.
Let me tell you he sounded like the biggest nerd ever, we were arguing for like an hour. Some things he said:
"Women would get lost in a tree if it wasn't for mens guidence"
"This is a man world, we are superior"
"Womens votes don't count"
"We should be in a kitchen making him dinner"
"Ok this is on the spot, what did women invent? yeah that's right nothing"
"You're fat, fatty"
I called him a fat nerd, he apparently took it offensively so he called me fat...
But anyways yeah, I think there is more Controversy between Women and Men, then there is between Blacks and Whites these days.
This is what I said to make him remove me, I didn't think it was much of a burn but it hurt im i guess..
"Ok if we are sopposed to be in the kitchen, then why aren't you doing your job and working? Oh because you're sitting here playing Halo"
I guess I won, not much of a burn but yeah... I sent him another friends request and said:
"Well I guess this makes me superior sense you backed out"

I agree with ya Kicker of Tale. I think that some games should be voice monitered(if thats possible) and end live subscrptions to the people that host these games. U should be only allowed to talk to people on a list that u want to talk 2. That way immature kids can only talk to their immature friends. It is isn't the best solution nore will it probably be used. But it is just a thought.:cool: :D

i hate this kind of crap. it's not often I run into situations like this, but you hear the trash talk pretty often. I'm sure some guys purposely do this because they know we hate it so much and they're jerks. I get pretty furious too, but I either ignore them, or say something like H20 buddy (it's a good thing guys like you exist.)

I think even the hitting on is the same as the trash talking - its mostly done to get you off your game, make you mad or self concious or whatever.

Wow, I wish our ignore button worked that quickly :( When you ignore someone in Socom 3 it doesn't take effect until after you either leave the room or re-start your PS2 I think. SO next time you play against a jerk you won't be able to hear him lol
