So I've had every handheld out there from old school Game Boy that was the size of a subway sandwich to the Gameboy micro. Well on to my dilemma about a year+ ago my Nintendo DS broke and I never got a new one, also around that time I got rid of my PSP and lately I've been wanting to play a handheld again, except I cant decide on which to choose because they both have a lot of games that catch my eye. Which would you recommend I get, I like to play games that I can pick up and play and not worry about sitting there for a long time before I can save or anything, also I like RPGs and fighting games.

Personally, I enjoy my PSP more than a DS. Over the past year it has gained a truly robust library of games and I always use it for music, movies, and for going online. Both God of War and Patapon just released for the system with each game being rated highly.

There is also 2 highly rated fighting games, Tekken and Street Fighter on the PSP. This would be my pick for a handheld anyway.

RPGs and fighting games are both very well represented on DS. As well as better portability as it comes to size, fun factor and most importantly battery life. The PSP has improved its game library...barely. A few good original games here and there and a bunch of remakes dont do it for me. As far as music and things all doable on ds with right stuff. All cheap and easy to get. Biggest factor in my switch from psp to ds though was battery life and DS has awesome original titles...not a hit or miss thing like psp. And guilty gear on ds was sweet!!! And they ahve a bunch of good RPGs

Most people will tell you to get a DS to be honest, thats the majority of the market. Yet from someone who has both i'm just saying that I completely prefer the PSP over my DS, which i plan on selling.

Hey, maybe you should go for a DS, I got one right here :) !

I've had both (DS isnt water proof lol and PSP bricked on me) I just have the choice between the two and I liked both a lot equally, the DS always had good games but I noticed the PSP does have a good library starting up finally.

idk, i like DS cuz it's got advance wars, and hopefully they'll make it compatable with the new FFCC for the Wii, i miss FFCC for GCN, couldn't find anyone to play with me :( besides, my SP broke

Why not get both? Sounds like to me you'll eventually own both (again) at some point. So the question you should ask yourself is which one should you get (again) first?

I personally prefer the DS but besides the Ace Attorney series, I've only been indulging myself with puzzle games like Picross and Professor Layton.

I have both ds and psp but truthfully psp is world's better. Look at lego star wars ds and psp
both are lsw but the psp version is more like playing the ps-2 version than gameboy.

That said ds has many great games like the ace attorney series that play better on ds than
on a system with no touch screen. I wish i could see the ds games on a tv like the psp slim
can output the umd movies and games.

Both systems have strengths and are worth getting...however psp gets some respect sience
sony simply adds features it didn't ship with on a fairly regular basis. Originally psp didn't even have a web brouser but now it has that and internet radio, rss, skype remote use with ps3
and can recieve tv from a seprate device....coming soon GPS!

With ds I had to buy a $30 web kit and it was not even close to what i get free on psp.
Based on tech / features psp is night and day better (when playing games you can turn off the wi-fi switch to concerve on battery useage as when on it takes juce connected or not) but if only considering games ds does have more and a better varity overall, post psp slim
and god of war this may change. The feature psp lacks is a touch screen so it's more
akin to playing ps-2 than unique stuff like cooking mama.

1 last thing thanks to the mem stick i can turn off my psp at any point during gameplay and when i turn it back on it starts exactly where i left it-also works on web surfing i'll find movie times turn it off then turn it back on and right there they are unfortunatlly with ds you must close the lid and hope standby has enough juce until next play as there's no system flash mem to save stuff til later...imagine if you could use an sd card to save everything and simply turn it off knowing it would come right back.

Bottom line we need both-just today i picked up apallo justice on my ds!!!
Next week i'm getting pattapon because the locoroko team did it.

There are alot more games for DS, however there are some greats coming out for PSP. Look at the games in DS, write a tally of the ones you like. Do the same for PSP, which ever one has the most then you get that one.
