When Firefox, Thunderbird, or Mozilla Suite is in use, it prevents access to the active profile to keep other programs from altering the contents or causing conflicts. This "lock" is normally transparent to the user but it sometimes happens when it's not expected.

In Mozilla Suite and earlier Firefox and Thunderbird versions, you may launch the application, see the Profile Manager and receive a message that your profile is already "in use". In Firefox 1.5 or later, a "Close Firefox" dialog box may appear with the message, Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system. A similar "Close Thunderbird" dialog box and message may appear in Thunderbird 1.5 or later. These messages mean that the profile is locked.

ok push alt+ctrl+delete.

if u end the process, u will be able to use firefox. It happens to me all the time. After I do that, I restart the computer. You dont have to but it hlpz so that i dont have to make another profile

I hope this or wat ganster said hlps.

P.S. after reading the information that ganster posted, the information that i put in this thread is also posted on that link.

did u start up firefox and then go to the task manager? Try that. see if firefox even comes up on tha TM

If u dont see it, something iz up tho. But u shud completely unistall firefox. Even the folders and stuff.

Also if u install it back on ur hardrive, try to install on a different drive. i.e: i have two drivers C: and D:

no no no . . .this one is so much better .. . . it's called "Why Macs Suck" (http://youtube.com/watch?v=TSA4tiriHrc&search=why%20macs%20suck)

however, here's some less funny, but true mac ads . . .

Better (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oToukfFHPes&mode=related&search=)

Virus Ad (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxjB9-klebU&mode=related&search=)

Networking (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owdBwzvqp2I&mode=related&search=)

but considering how macs have pc operating systems already loaded onto them now, how can u say macs are worse, if they have both? :)

ok so ive seen the commercials about how mac can now support some of the pc's abilities. But the bad thing about that iz that u still need to constantly download or buy software in order to keep up with microsoft updates.

Again I'm not hatin on macs, it just that ive tried them and its hard to go from a right clickin mouse to only a one button/clickin mouse.

There are other things that i cant figure out like how do u right click on a link and get options like "save to desktop" or "bookmark this link" Ive tried pushing (and mashing) different buttons. i gave up and went bak to my lovely pc

not apple themselves . . . but if u go to macmall.com or somewhere, they have collections of hardware (and mice) available from other companies that are compatible w/macs, sometimes pcs too (or u could go to pcmall.com for pc stuff)

here's some mice that you might like! (http://www.macmall.com/macmall/shop/cat/Peripherals/MiceKeyboards/category.asp)

ok just tried firefox wasnt on windows task manager so i have given up dare i say it back to ie!!!!!!In that case, might I recommend the IE7 beta (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx)? After I got my new PC, I've been running IE7 and Opera 9 all the way. Firefox have gotten way too bloated, and is way slower than it's competitors, as well as it's got a thing with eating CPU and memory.

There seem to be a lot of people running Firefox simply because it's not Microsoft, and that's probably the worst reason ever.
