Ryebread

Hello all! On Team Fortress 2, people call me Ryebread or "Blargablargablara*gurgle*". Outside my lovely computer world, I'm a 24 year old lad going by the name of Christopher Teo, and I'm currently studying in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Of course, I actually hail from Singapore (tiny island country in South East Asia), but I figured that saying Charlottetown would be a mite less confusing, what with timezones and all.
My Steam ID is "GoldenHopper1983", and my XFire is "ryebread1983". Pardon me if I seem a wee bit noobish, but I only just downloaded XFire and Ventrilo moments earlier. I've played FPS Games such as Counterstrike, Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142, but I've never really been part of any kind of FPS gaming community. In fact, I didn't start using the mike to chat with folks while gaming until now! Unfathomable! I've also played a fair number of MMORPGs, like Final Fantasy XI and City of Heroes (one of the best out there, I think!).
I feel I should go a bit into why I'm here and trying to join. Well above all, I want cooperation. I want to see it, breath it and live it! I want to join a game and offer some form of strategy and hear someone agree/disagree! I want to be running somewhere and then hear someone call out for help or backup so I can *change* my plans! Most times, I just spawn, run out and try to chase after someone so that teamwork *might* inadvertently happen when an enemy appears, but more often than not, I'm just rushing to and fro, trying to figure out some way to contribute to the team's welfare without actually communicating with the team.
I also have this idea in me that I might fare fairly well in competitive gaming. Not to brag, but I do believe I can demonstrate considerable skill at times, and would like a more experienced player's assessment of my talent. Of course, my computer isn't the best in the world and my internet connection doesn't wow me with its awesome performance... but one should not blame one's tools, as the saying goes!
If I might go on a bit more about myself, I'd like to mention a bit more about the individual outside of the computer. I'm a student at the University of Prince Edward Island, majoring in English and minoring in Women's Studies, and a volunteer with various organizations on campus. Mostly, they are to do with aiding fellow international students, who have newly arrived in Canada, adapt to new climates and cultures. I'm also an aspiring writer, although I spend less time actually writing than I'd like. I'm a big fan of creative fiction, particularly the novels of Terry Pratchett's Discworld, and hope to one day follow in his footsteps, crafting tales of power and mirth.
That's pretty much all I have to say right now. If all goes well, I hope to have the pleasure of making your acquaintance and the privilege of fighting beside or against you in TF2. Take care and have fun, in-game and out!
