With as much travel as we do, this always comes up.

I can never connect to XBL at a hotel. I've tried using direct connect, I've tried using their wireless. Nothing works.

Anyone out there know how to get 'er done?

I've had the same problem actually... I refuse to pay for internet at a hotel so I never want a direct connection, but the wireless never worked for me.

Sorry...

At work, we give our users this when they need to access our VPN on the road. Not sure what's preventing you from gaining access to xbox live so no way to tell if it will solve your problems but it may be worth a try?

That satellite guys article definitely makes sense. I'll try that next time I travel!

I''ve tried to connect to Xbox live but the MTU doesn't confirm. Does anyone know why? Or has successfully connected to Xbox live through a hotel? any help would be great thanks.

I usually run into this problem at hotels that require to you enter information on a webpage before you can gain access to the internet. Now I could go the way of sat guys and spoof my comp`s mac address on my 360 but its easier to take a router and connect both. When you log into the hotels internet with the laptop it registers the routers mac so anything plugged into it will connect. Now that only works when the hotel room has a "Ethernet" (RJ45) connector for hotels with wireless internet just log in with a laptop and run a cable from the laptop to the 360. Configure windows internet sharing (Win XP) and as long as the laptop stays on you can frag all you want.

I would think its that they block all ports except 80 and 443 to prevent people from downloading files and etc.

More and more hotels are going to wireless only. I have not tried the “wired <--> make your laptop into a wireless bridge” instructions because all the hotels I stay at are wireless only. All the hotels I stay at have the CAPTIVE PORTAL. This is the page one has to log on to gain internet access. Most hotel’s internet access is through port 80 (http) & port 25 (E-mail). I have found the other ports are not “listening” (turned-on) for the XBOX gaming ports UDP 88, UCP 3074 or TCP 3074. I tried the instructions from the SAT-guys but with the wireless to no avail (also described by Vindicator). Does anyone know of a XBL proxy portal ( i.e. a portal that one can go out port 80 at the hotel then provides a gateway to the XBL ports.)?
