Ok, Ive had it up to here with not being able to play games the way they should be played... I going to be building my own system to MY specs, not what dell or whomever thinks I should be running.
Heres what I got...
Antec 900 ATX Case
Core 2 duo e6750 (2.66ghz)
Rosewill 550w Power Supply
Nvidia 8800 GTS 512mb Graphics Card
MSI P35 Platinum Motherboard
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Sound Card
And I might get one of those physics cards because I can
I have hard drives and a dvd burner and all that... but do you think that will be good enough? Ill keep everyone posted on the build.
Might want to consider bumping the power supply up just a tad if you don't have it already, it should work for what you've got, but more wouldn't hurt for expansion.

Good call on the 6750 also, the jump from 2MB of L2 to 4MB makes an amazing difference.

Get a 8800 GT instead of a GTS until its redone, currently the GT outproforms the GTS as well as handles DX10 better.
Get a 700 watt PSU.

Got 4 gigs of Corsair XMS2 memory... not too up on the ram scene, but it was expensive, so it must be good. Got it all together and Im writing this from the new computer actually... At first boot, I ran 3dmark 06 and scored 11388 right off the bat with no tweaks (overclocking) whatsoever. Not bad, not bad, runs crysis on high, and Im happy with that so hey. I might actually try some other pc games (besides World of Warcraft) now. I actually just got a new hard drive today too... this old one started acting a little weird. So Im upgrading to a 320 Gigabyte 7200 rpm hard drive.

OK! Im done! I installed my new hard drive and got everything up and running. Overclocked just a tad (up to 3.2 ghz) and scored 12360 in 3DMark 06! Im really excited that I can finally run games without worrying about upgrading... at least for this month, lol. I know everything will be obsolete within a month anyway.
Nice, glad to hear you got it up and running :D

I was so tired of buying laptop after laptop just to find out that no laptop is as awesome as my computer I just built. 22 inch monitor too... man... thats just rediculous. Oh, looks like I didnt put that in the initial post. I got a samsung syncmaster monitor... 22 inch widescreen, 2ms response time, 3000 to 1 contrast ratio... its nice!

I have dual 22" LCDs - one is a sceptre - same specs, just a 2000:1, and the other is an LG with the same specs as yours. I absolutely love em, and you picked up a very nice monitor, samsung makes really good ones.

did you end up upping that PSU?
if not like snake said just up it to a 700, it'll be a lil better running with that.
also i can't remember when but there's a new GPU coming out that's running at 1024MB (1GB obv)...of course i think that's overkill, (you only need 8800's SLi'd if you wanna run Crysis at higher settings anyhow lol) but just some eye candy lol
just sorta curious what you ended up putting in that box tho in the end (but p.s. that does look gorgeous with what's up there)

I stuck with the 550 power supply and its doing pretty well. I went into my local independent computer store and saw their little "gamers setup" and it happend to have 3dmark 06 on it. For around 1900-2000 dollars, it only scored around 11000. It was an amd quad-core setup with ati cards crossfired. Meh. I think Im doing pretty well. At least until the 9 series cards drop this spring.

ya, i mean if the setup you have is working, there's no need to go spend more money for (in some cases) minimal performance differences, especially if what you're working with is doing just fine.
ya...SLi though...omg, SLi 8800's either one and just...it makes you very happy
