View Full Version : Issues with "show new posts"

This morning I've had difficulties viewing new posts with the "New posts in" -> "All new posts " on the meny on top.
I had to check the posts in the "last 24 hours" instead, and there had indeed been several new posts since I visited last.
Is this a forum problem?
EDIT: I forgot to actually write what the issue is, but here I go: No posts show up.

yeah ive been having the same issue for like 2 days, everytime itll only pull up maybe at most 10 posts

News posts are not new posts. They are posts you specifically have not viewed yet.
It is working correctly for me. I have 48 threads I have not checked since the last reply.

Yeah I know that, but I was having difficulties on Sunday morning when I hadn't been online since early on Saturday and there was several new posts that I hadn't viewed since last time, but they didn't show up when I searched.
It has happened once or twice before, just thought I'd report it. :)

News posts are not new posts. They are posts you specifically have not viewed yet. since your last visit
It is working correctly for me. I have 48 threads I have not checked since the last reply.
Because it is classified as being 'since your last visit' if you sign in on the forums and idle for 5+ minutes (not sure how long it is set at?), the forum signs you out. If you then look for new posts since your last visit, it will use that last login.
Atleast thats what I figure out of own experience.

I know that too. But I got on the forums when I turned on the computer in the morning, and checked the "new posts" as I always do. Right away when I got on.
I unfortunately haven't been able to replicate the problem, and I assure you - I ALWAYS use the view new posts - so i'm testing it at least 10+ times a day ;)
I'm honestly not sure why you're experiencing the problem, i can't think of a reason its not working - assuming its linking properly to the new posts feature.

Well it's only happened maybe 2 or 3 time, and I can't speak for the previous times but yesterday that is what happened: logged on, checked straight away and that happened.
But it's not a huge problem, so don't stress it. I'll write again if it ever happens again. :)
(And I probably use the feature 10+ times a day too.)

I think its something on your end. Maybe somehow the forums think your still logged in as we have a rather large timeout. But anyways I like Post Spy much better then New posts.
Post spy stalls from time to time for me, not sure why :(

If your session times out it will kill post spy for private threads. Cause post spy has nothing to do with the forums as it is not a modification. It uses your session ticket to query all new threads and the forums only respond with the threads you can view.
