Ok, im new to xbox live and would really like to be able to play competitively at some stage. I was wondering if there were any COD4 pros on here that would like to play me in some 1 on 1's to help me train. And also to give me some pointers. I would really appreciate it and will do anything to return the favour.
If you would like to help, then please add me to Xbox Live, my gamertag is: eGii RubiX
Thank you.

What are you wanting to train for specifically. Tournaments, Online ladders, or just to get better? I have been divisional for about 2 months with another clan but i dont consider myself " a Pro"

I'll help ya. For MLG you are going to want to concentrate on regular TDM and S&D. Just send me a friend request and I will send you an invite next time i am online. Also if you want to get better you could join the H2O cod4 division.

Just remember, there is no "professional" CoD4 league nor teams yet. MLG has yet to pick it up and probably won't put it on the circuit unless IW adds create-a-class for LAN. That doesn't mean MLG won't pick it up for online tournaments though.
As for some tips, I highly recommend just playing private games by yourself and getting comfortable with the maps. Then go into public games and learn where the "hot spots" are and go back to private games to see where you can get a good vantage point on those hot spots. It helped me a lot when I decided to start sniping (when I went into my first prestige mode) but I'm sure it will help overall, especially since in this game you have a significant advantage if you see your opponent before they see you.

this doesnt really pertain to the post. but after playing cod4 and getting better and better at it (40+ average kills a game, HQ), i realized my overall ability to play FPS' has increased. i went back to h3 after a while of cod4 time and was shocked to notice i was a lot better at it. i <3 cod4

The main thing to remember in COD4 is that the other person always has the advantage. You get cases where youre being shot at before the guys around the corner and its a pain in the ass, so you want to lure your oponnent out into the open and hit them when tyheres nowhere to run.
Another thing to note is DONT CAMP, while this is a military themed game and as such camping is a legitimate tactic, if your team races down the end of the map and kills all the enemy, they are going to respawn behind you and youre going to get messed up.
And regarding Snipers, i wouldnt class anyone in COD4 as a sniper, a Marksman, sure, but not a sniper, you may have a sniper rifle, but unless youre hitting targets at 1km+ then youre nothing more than a glorified rifleman dressed as a shrub.

One tactic that I try to reinforce in our practices is to take only 2 of the flags in Domination. This causes the game to spawn the opponent near their only flag, and makes it easy to contain them and mow them down. Just make sure that you don't get too close their flag or it'll start spawning them all over the map and makes you work harder.

try increasing your sensitivity. I found the more I got used to moving faster it increased my reaction and aiming. If your sensitivity is to low, you won't be able to out shoot.

I totally agree. I went from the normal setting to above high. People were running right by me and I couldn't turn fast enough to get them. :soldier: :)

I play CoD4 on PC and I actually camp a lot while playing as a sniper. I just set up some claymores at the top of stairs, behind doorways, etc. to give me an early warning of when an enemy is near. I always camp in a building that I can easily jump from (jumping out of windows ftw) to get out. If my team rushes, I end up behind enemy lines. The last place they expect to be killed from is behind. Just practice that and your KDR will go up a lot.
NOTE: Not a good idea for competeing, just great for random pubs.

Standing still = instant death
Standing still while sniping = instant death if you don't know how to hide
run & gun = a chance. it's up to you to increase your chance.
remember that.............at leas that's how l play.

Haha you two!
SilverFox you got some decent kills yesterday.
One thing I use for most all my weapons is Stopping Power w/Deep Impact. Unless you're playing hardcore, those perks kill the enemy pretty quickly and you get them from Level 3. I also love my Red Dot Sight with my RPD!

Ok my problem is that my boyfriend is extremly good at any game he picks up. I have to really work for it and still I can never seem to beat him. If anyone wanted to help me out at getting a little bit better that would be awsome. My goal is pretty modest, it's just to be able to beat my boyfriend once.

I'm no "guru" but those that play with me can justify my gaming ability. If any H2O or PMS would like to play with me in-game, get tips, go over strategies for their small teams, go over camping locations (to use and/or counter) hit me up with a Friend Request or PM me on the forums.
I usually practice with the H2O guys; needa get those hours in. But I'd gladly make time to do some extra training. Just an offer; I have played on Gamebattles and have played against many of the top teams (dead presidents, dioxide, unreal, prime time, dream shots, etc).
Best of luck to all that play CoD4 and hope to see you in game.
