For all those who had trouble with live over the past week...

Dear Xbox LIVE Members:

During this past holiday season you helped us break a number of Xbox LIVE records. This included our largest sign-up of new members to Xbox LIVE in our 5 year history and just yesterday you broke the record for the single biggest day of concurrent members ever on the service.

As a result of this massive increase in usage we know that some of you experienced intermittent Xbox LIVE issues over the holiday break. While the service was not completely offline at any given time, we are disappointed in our performance. I would like to take this moment to thank you each and every one of you for your patience and understanding as our team has worked around the clock to return the service to a stable state.

At the same time we would like to offer a token of our appreciation to all of you in celebration of record success for the service. And as a thank you for your loyalty during this holiday period, we will be offering all of our Xbox LIVE members around the world access to a full Xbox LIVE Arcade game that will be available to download free of charge. In the coming weeks we will be sharing the specific details of this offer with you.

Thank you again for helping make Xbox LIVE everything that it is today!

Sincerely,
Marc Whitten
General Manager, Xbox LIVE

I would forgive Microsoft if they gave us 800 points instead. or a 1,000 gamerscore achievement That says "YOU WERE PATIENT (ONCE AGAIN) AND NOW YOUR REWARDED"

It seems a little weird first m-soft adresses the rrod and now this. Seems like they are taking responsibility for the X box. It does seem alot more than other companies would do thou. So its good knowing they sort of live up to their mistakes with xbox. Now if we could get them to have this responsibility with operating systems :P

I think that their idea of reimbursement offering a weak arcade game is just showing us how little they really care. I would have at least given us one month free extension. The company makes millions off of us and their ads that we have to see in our games. I mean common now they should I remember back when I had original x box that their was an under ground site you could play for free. The site did not have allot of the bells and whistles that live has but it still did the job. I think they are just out for all our hard earned money they should have known that this would be coming. i told all my friends even before the break that live was going to suck because all of the people that would be on. They are probably going to say that live is going to go up this coming year.

I think we should get a month of xbox live free! Thats about how long its taking them to fix the problem, not an arcade game that no one will ever play

Ditto. If MS wants to remain competitve in the gamer industry, they need to treat their customers like gold. Becau$e to them, that'$ ju$t what we gamer$ are. Wii consoles have consistently outsold Xbox 360s, every month.

As long as they are getting our money they wont care and its a damn shame. They think we depend on them when we made them who they are.

i agree that they don't care, this is only a small corporate offer to make it seem like they do... but i'll take it. : )

Couldn't have said it any better.

What's sad though is that some people think it's the game (I hear people complaining about IW on CoD4) rather than Live.
