The Illiad, ouch. I had to see quite a bit of it in my Latin I class (in the original Latin, yikes).

I might be able to help with Illiad, but the Calculus would be far too much out of my grasp, I failed Algebra 2, lol.

I totally know how you feel Spartan, its not like I dont want to do the work, I just get find the motivation and always find something else to do.

I got a D in Pre-Cal a few years back because I was lazy, not because I was stupid.

Procrastination should be one of the deadly sins lol

I read the Odessey no illiad though. Might I suggest cliff notes or sparknotes.com
I have to read A Mill on The Floss, which is rediculously long. And Anthills of the Savannah, both I have to do work on. Along with writing 2 essays about what I plan to major in when I get to college.

as for The Iliad, i'm not as far as writing any papers or anything for it where i'd need sparknotes/cliffnotes (i've used them before though and they're awesome), i'm just writing personal responses to random passages that i find . . . lol, it's not that bad, i just have to motivate, ugh

Good luck with the summer reading! I'm a junior in college, but I remember doing that all through middle and high school. I enjoyed it, though. ;-) My suggestion: set a goal (read 10 stanzas and write one response) and start right after your first meal of the day. You can't get on the PC or Xbox until it's done. My siblings hate reading and do this; I hold them accountable. You'll get annoyed and learned to speed read.

Are you taking AP Calc AB or BC? I went from an advanced pre cal class to BC and couldn't handle it (I suck at math anyways). I moved down to AB, though, and found that to be hard, but doable. I'm not going to lie; it was a stinkin' hard class at times. But even though I barely made it through for the class, I made a 3 on the AP test and haven't taken another math class since. Don't wait for college to be "free" from your parents. If you start that class and are struggling big time, sit down and talk to you parents. It would be better to take a math class, pass, and have a great GPA than do poorly, have a stain on your GPA, and still not get the credit.

good advice for the most part, however . . . i've heard that lots of colleges look to see that u challenged yourself the most . . . idk . . . i might take AB . . . haven't decided yet . . . i can drop down to that if BC is way too hard . . . lol, i sense it will be

Yeah, all the BS high schools tell you about college. You're right, a college may look to see that you didn't take a bunch of easy As. But any AP course is considered a challenge; AB will count just as much as BC on a transcript. The only difference is how much math credit you're hoping to earn on the test.

It's always your choice which one you take. Simply offering my advice; I felt the same way in high school. Looking back I realize now how much fear parents, teachers, and admins drive into your mind when, in the end, it's completely unnecessary.

I'm sorry you're so worried about what your parents will say about the scores. FYI- if you're freaking out about a 3, don't. They count at most colleges (unless you're headed to Ivy league or something such). If it's not a three, don't sweat it. You're that much more prepared for a basic college course; AP is a whole lot harder than freshman courses. Just remind your parents that you put forth your best effort and that missing out on merely 6 credits won't but you behind in college. You got a free (your high school offers AP for free, right?) opportunity to glimpse into the college academic life and better prepare yourself.

lol, yeah, i got a 3 on one . . . but . . . most of the colleges i'm looking at only like 4's and 5's . .. but i agree w/all that other stuff. . . i just wish i hadn't put myself through the agony of a three hour (lol, and five minute) test w/the AP U.S. History

My college originally had it written that they only except 4s and 5s, but they changed it recently and began accepting 3s. Even if the school doesn't accept it, you need to call and schedule testing to place you in basic classes. They may not accept your 3 for US History, but you could probably test out of it. There's a ton of options besides AP for getting ahead. Don't tell your parents, but you can look at CLEP (or is KLEP?) testing. It's virtually the same as the AP test, but it costs 70+ bucks (I don't remember now). So if you're a science buff and and don't get a high enough AP score, you can CLEP out of the class if you pass the test.

I'm impressed by the 3, seriously. You go girl! I took 5 tests and only got credit for two of them. Sophomore year was AP Stat (1- ha! everyone did horrible) and AP World History (3- class of 04 was the first to take it!). Junior= AP US (2- didn't study) and AP Engl (3). Senior= AP Calc AB with a 3.

You know you've been brainwashed by standardized testing when, as a freshman in college, you see a road sign that says "ACT NOW!" and think, "I need to take the ACT right now?" It's taken 3 years for me to see the words "sat" and "act" in a paragraph and not think of testing.

Summer reading... gosh, I miss that stuff now. I read anyways, but I miss the excuse to go spend 50 bucks at B&N because, "honestly Mom, I just can't decide between these 5 books! I might as well buy them all." =]
