New Version of Vent!

Looks like vent has finally done some upgrades, so its time to have lots more problems to fix! Everyone, please head over to http://www.ventrilo.com/dlprod.php?id=1 and grab the new version - version 3.0
(Please note it will have you uninstall the current version (v 2.3) when you upgrade - but it looks like it keeps all your settings)

I'm sorry folks, at the moment there is absolutely no way to turn off the [Guest] in everyone's name. It seems the makers want us to create a separate user login for each and every individual. Obviously we have enough trouble keeping this up with the forums, and there's no way we're going to go around creating thousands of vent logins as well just to get rid of [Guest]. It looks like there's a lot of communities having the same issue - so I'd expect a solution for it whenever they get around to updating vent next (hopefully soon!)

Back in the earlier versions of Ventrilo, clients were only compatible with servers run on the same version. Is that the case with 3.0, and if so, I assume the PMS Ventrilo has been upgraded?

I frequent a couple different Ventrilos, so I'd like to know that first.. Otherwise I'll just install 3.0 to another file path :o.

Correct, the PMS server has been upgraded. If you try to connect with the 2.3.0 client it will tell you that you need to upgrade to 3.0
Not sure if the 3.0 client works with 2.3.0 servers or not.

The 3.0 Servers/client are not compatible with 2.3.0 servers. So if you do upgrade, make sure you either have your favorite server admins upgrade thier server, or just dont go to thier servers :P

Anyway, it'll get rid of the guest nonsense, and I know that I for one will be quite happy about that. (Though you all look cute with your little guest names, maybe i should leave it on hehe)

3.0.1 will be released on monday (hopefully) - if you haven't updated, wait until then. Those of you who have, well...you get to update again :-x
It will address a lot of issues, including the guest one. Other people have reported it having trouble connecting - hopefully it will address that as well.
