So I heard a rumor last night while playing with some h2o's, that World of Warcraft is coming to the XBOX 360, just wanted to know if anyone else has heard of this happening.

This was a rumor circulating in 2005, but it was denied.

Do you mean there's any new news about this?
I didn't find anything anyways.

Why not? YOu can play FF XI on the 360 and comp.

But yeah, I heard this rumor quite awhile ago. I mean it would be cool because I've always wanted to play WoW, just would never buy it for comp.

Playing WoW on the 360 would be just as bad as the CPL hosting Quake 4 competitions on the 360. It just does not make sense. ?__?

i wish it could happen. my pc sucks.

it couldnt happen. if it did they'd have to dumb everything down, you wouldnt be able to play with the PC version guys because they'd have the upper hand everytime. there's just no way you'd be able to have all the spells and attacks as you do in the PC version. not to mention the world is bloody huge. there isn't enough control on a controller, however if they made a "Xbox 360 Keyboard and Mouse" then it could be possible. but until then it couldnt happen.

and all you people saying you wish you could play it, dont say that, it literally sucks you in until all you do is breathe eat and sleep WoW. only reason i got out of the addiction is because my computer died, otherwise i'd probably still be playing it to this day.

^^Or you can get a wireless keyboard that goess into the zip drive and use that because thats all the slots for controllers are are zip drive slots.. BTW, I have one before you ask me to get the proof.

Aww, I adore WoW. :] It would be neat to see what achievements they would make for the 360, hehe.

i know. i've used one too. but most games don't support it. PSU was and is the only one so far i'm pretty sure. but i'm sure if they did make WoW on 360 they would come out with an xbox 360 official keyboard, and somehow make it to you can only use that one on the game so you have to spend more wonderful money.

A 360 does not have the memory to handle WoW. Basically a 360 is a crappy computer in a small box for a cheap price. Get used to your crappy console....our good PC games wont be coming there as typically they always get ruined for both parties. If you want a real game get a PC.

It is a rumor, WoW is definitely not coming for the 360.

FFXI Also supports the keyboard.

Rumor just got squashed. Go on gamespot.com . It should be on of the newest articles about Vivendi, Activision, and Blizzard signing the contract to join together. And, in the interview, the CEO specificaly says any project's made by Blizzard have no plan's to get a console port. That includes WoW. Sorry to all the dreamers.

Im so happy this was a rumor. I absolutely hate WoW with a passion. i hate most RPG's for that matter. I'd die, if it ever came out on the 360.

Why would it matter to you if it came out? It's not like you were planning to play it if it did come out on 360.

Because it would consume more people that used to play other genres? :P

I have nothing really against it, but I too am glad it is not coming to the 360 (always known it is simply not possible, but still).. it means there will be less blurring of the PC and Xbox 360 franchises. When the Orange Box was brought to the 360, at the same time as to the PC, it raped the PC's sales. If it had come out a few months afterward, it would've been fine.. but it did not, and now TF2 is not nearly as popular as it should have been (on the PC).

360 has 512mb memory which would be enough to play WOW on although probably not real well.

The memory differences make no difference. A computer would require more ram because it is a computer running more precesses which use up more ram. Consoles don't require the ram since they dont have to run that extra crap. How do you think the 360 can run a game like Bioshock which requires way better hardware.

The environment of WoW is a persistent world that is MUCH larger then any 360 game. There is no zoning boundaries except the water of the continents and instances. WoW does not run that well on a computer with 1 GB of RAM in any sort of major encounter such as the later instances and raids. A computer with 1 GB will stutter even in Ironforge/Stormwind even with most processes disabled. The OS and typical background processes take less then 128 MB of RAM (except Vista). Try adding the typical addons that a raider needs and no way will it keep up.

You would also have to have a mouse and keyboard, no controller could have enough mapping for the keys required.

Also WoW + Burning Crusade + Patches cannot fit on one DVD. What you going to switch the DVD each time you go to another continent?

PC Player: Hey guys lets go to Darn, mage X can you port us?
PC Player: Sure.
360 Player: Hey wait guys I gotta switch the DVD and wait for the 5 minutes it takes to load the persistent world into memory.
PC Player: 360 Player has been removed from the group.

The 360 wouldn't be able to run any of the addons though, and half of the macros would be useless.. it just wouldn't work out too well.

Its funny because my friends have started talking about this also, it is do able but we all agreed that if they were to do it, a lot of WOW people would probably stop playing, and they wouldn't make the amount of money they were making even with the new 360 crowd.

Well I have 512 mb of ram anyways and it doesn't shutter or lag in iron forge but oh well. Anyways WoW wouldn't come out on the 360 anyways probably.

to do with the patches and expansions, i'm sure they could think of a way, i mean they have done it for FFXI.

well it would all tie into the a server like FFXI has POL. and for the expansions, they would prolly make it where you could play on the newest expansion, and go anywhere, no switching disks or anything.
