Yeah I know, but there aren't many people who can get fragged the second they see their opponent a 100 times over and never score a kill with out getting a little frustrated.

I thought 1.6 was the best. Too easy to get a headshot in Source, makes it boring. But most people are definantly intimidated by CS. It's hard because most of the people you meet in the servers (especially the so-called "noob" ones) have been playing since the dawn of CS, and they know all the little tricks (ie: air-strafing, wall-hacking, etc.). You also have to learn how each gun shoots, they all have their own personalities. Watch out for those awps too. Best to just learn to use it. Being quick in the buy screen helps a lot too, as well as knowing the maps like the back of your hand. I used to play a lot, but not so much anymore.
The best thing about CS is all the mods, endless amounts of them. And not to mention all the player-created maps. It's a really great game once you get good.
Good luck though! My advice: get together a good team of people you know and practice a lot.
