Well I just played through the campaign on normal and some of it was tough, what are your thoughts on making it through veteran?
I think its going to take forever or I may just give up lol

The 2nd part of the sniper mission on HARDENED is nearly impossible as is. Veteran would make me want to gouge my eyes out with a spork.

I just got through act 1 on veteran. Not so bad so far. It is like playing Gears on insane!!!
H2O Raiden
11-10-2007, 11:04 PM
Bull! Gears on Insane is not even as hard as Halo 3 on Heroic. Insane on Gears just requires a different approach on "normal" battles. (ie: rushing through a courtyard to chainsaw everything in sight instead of even firing a single shot.. remember Moonie? lol)
PS: LSU, come on live man, let's play some MP :)

I just beat that part today. So tough that I had to restart the level.
H2O Raiden
11-11-2007, 03:05 PM
I've restarted on it about 3 times already. I finally figured out how much the wind actually affects the first sniper shot (with the .50), and popped the guy with a massive curve shot to the head. I hate that they tried to go super-realistic with the sniping.. it is supposedly an 800 (ish) meter shot, with a Barret .50 cal (M82?), yet the thing is affected by the "Coriolis effect" (effect of the curvature of the earth, resulting in the shot not hitting where you want it to), which he speaks about but doesn't actually explain, so someone new to the idea of tactical rifle usage is left to wonder what it means.
Furthermore, the sniper shot is like watching a laser being bounced off a mirror.. the wind doesn't make rounds do a bloody u-turn.. sad attempt at realism.
Anywho, the 2nd part of the mission is nearly impossible on Hardened.. the NPC you have barely does anything, and even if you are the world's best crack shot with any/all of the sniper rifles, you get swarmed by hundreds of NPC's. So hard.

Veteran is a *****!!!!! Two shots in the back and l died! l did do the first two missions, but my plan is to take it much MUCH slower than l normally would on easier difficulties, especially since it takes more shots to kill them as it does to kill you. My fear is the Sniper and the last level.
Has anyone gotten the Mile High Club achievement? l couldn't do it last night and a friend at school told me how he did it today.

Hey i beat it on veteren. Basically just take it slow sneak around corners. Theres two places I had trouble one was the ferris wheel. (i took cover behind the pavilian). The next was no fighting in the war room which was almost impossible for me. Ive got all the achievments except the high mile achievment, I made it to the hostage but accidentally shot him. Overall I dont think its to bad just take it slow. Remember use those grenades.

Just finished it on Sunday on regular and last night started it on veteran. I think its already getting intense. I had serious trouble in the t.v. studio. too many grenades flying, very frustrating but finally got through it. I only thing I can't figure out is that i shot all the t.v.s with the speech and i still didn't get the achievement...... this game is incredible though

On veteran mode I just sprint for the checkpoints, I find that if I try to fight it out I get owned sooner or later. Flashbangs are great for this because they can stun a group of enemies while you get by, and detonate fast enough that they don't take you out.

What you need to do is stay to the left and run around them. they seem to keep shooting at your partner and normally I get through it without getting shot. from there its not too bad until you get past the swimming pool. make sure to plant your claymores before you take him to the spot for sniper support because he gives you more. and good luck. I've been trying for the last week to pass it.

12-12-2007, 09:52 PM
Scarface, Whoever said COD4 was easy is "trying" to look cool. COD4 was definitely hard as hell. I mean it wasn't as hard as COD2, but it was hard.
You know how it goes, people love the exaggerate after they spend 3 days (x8 hours a day!) trying to complete one mission. But of course, it's easy after that... *eyeroll*

lol, l hear ya. COD4's a ***** on Veteran. l used to play games on easy, get used to it, and still own people online, but damn, COD4 is harder than Halo 3 on Legendary by yourself. I won't even play Halo 3 on Legendary (except the first mission), but I managed to beat Call of Duty 4 on Veteran. The way I see it, Call of Duty isn't Call of Duty unless it's on Veteran. I had no choice.
Not that it was an easy ride.
Charlie Don't Surf was the first mission that gave me any problems, thanks to that shootout in the broadcasting room. I ended up camping the server room the entire time. Slow, but it worked.
Hunted wasn't exactly a cakewalk, either. The very end with the chopper was the first part I wanted to go homicidal on. The chopper shoots you the very millisecond you move from cover, even if it's shooting at a teammate already. Stupid, but eventually I was able to take out the gunner and move up to the building.
Then, of course, was One Shot, One Kill. The first half of this mission was fun, in my opinion. Somewhat challenging, but fun. Then I sat for several minutes waiting for a chopper to show up. That was not challenging. That was impossible. I made it through pure luck and nothing but. When I made my break for MacMillan and the chopper, it was pure luck that I picked him up and jumped on the chopper before being taken out--though it still took two tries once I made it to that part.
Safehouse was pretty difficult as a whole, but wasn't particularly troublesome.
Heat, on the other hand, was no walk in the park. Rushing through that initial field was maddening, and when I reached the other side finally and hit a checkpoint, I realized it would be maddening until the very end. It didn't help that I got a checkpoint while injured and in the open with guys converging on me. I'm so lucky I found a way to go that kept me alive or I would have had to restart, and needless to say, I would not have been happy.
The rest of the game was pretty tough, but No Fighting In The War Room was just insane. Reaching those checkpoints made my brain hemorrhage, I'm pretty sure. You needed to make it within a certain time or it wouldn't give it to you, but that wasn't easy because there were some points where enemies would shoot you before you could sneak around the corner enough to even see them, causing you to duck back behind the wall until you were recovered, wasting more time.
I don't think I'll be doing Mile High Club anytime soon. If ever.

53 times (yes, i counted) i attempted Mile High Club on Veteran difficulty, couldnt even get to the second floor without being gakked up.
I've completed Crew Expendable on Veteran mode but that is the first level so i wasnt expecting too much pain, i attempted Hunted but kept getting shot every time you try to get into the basement, i tell you what, its bloody impossible.
To be honest, i can't play the campaign again because it was so good the first time round, nothing will compare to the first time that McMillan tells you to drop down and wait for the russians to pass in All Ghillied Up.

I've finished everything except for 30 intel items; I just haven't gone back through to do it. The squad record is easy to get, use the pistol for the accuracy bonus. It makes a heck of a difference, my best time is 16 seconds.
No fighting in the war room was by far the hardest and most frustrating mission on veteran to me. I was so happy when I finished that one up. Afterwards I played Mile High Club, it took about 50 tries but it wasn't as bad as I expected. Watch a video of it being done on youtube and you shouldn't have many issues.

yea anyone trying to complete the sniper mission just make sure you get an ak or mp5 and go all the way to the back right side of the map behind the bumper cars and white fence. make sure your claymores are set up around the ferris wheel and bumper cars (enemies like to go all the way around the bumper cars) begin sniping through the white fence until they get close then just bring out your mp5 or whatever you have close range and be sure to dodge all the nades that are going to be coming your way.

Veteran difficulty is funny, the AI never targets your team mates in a gun fight and instead all focus their attention on you. On mile high your best friend is the flashbang, let the squad do most of the shooting (the squad only advances when they are behind you though which sucks, they also have a habbit of shooting you in the back).
As for the FNG, 14.5 secs :P
AstralSoldier

the FNG, my best time in it is 15,6 secs. that was run'n'shoot style run from me..

the only one i couldnt beat on veteran was One shot, one kill. the part right after you snipe the guy, i just get overwhelmed and can't do it, enemies from the front, the sides, the back. ive tried EVERYTHING and i just can't do it. other than that the other levels were pretty easy on veteran, well except mile high club, but i didn't really spend time on that, i was just happy i beat it :p
honestly though, if a game has a harder difficulty like that, instead of making the AI just shoot at you with more rounds and only a few bullets kill you. they should make them smarter and more aggressive. also not being able to see you through a friggin wall. it should be REALISTIC not you having to hide every few seconds cause your about to die. i dont think people realize that the hardest difficulty, it should be very hard of course but not enemies seeing through walls and just grrrr it ticks me off sometimes.
other than that, the single player was AMAZING. the end caught me totally off guard, not what i was expecting at all

I only played the game on Veteran, so I have no idea what it's like on other difficulties. I thought the entire thing was pretty difficult. I always play campaign before I play online, and so I wasn't accustomed to Halo Jumping or belly flopping. I agree with those of you that stated that the 2nd part of the sniper mission is difficult, especially when you are in the court yard waiting for the chopper to come. That part is near impossible, especially picking him up and running to the chopper! Mile High Club took me about 5 hours non-stop to complete...
If you are planning on playing veteran, expect to die and memorize the little catchy phrases... It happens. Be patient, and let the AI do a lot of the work. You really need to stay calm to get through it on Veteran, because you'll get frustrated. Especially in the TV station room with all the TV's, I think that is 2nd hardest IMO.
Good Luck :)

I found that after I had played online, the campaign aspect became quite easy. Granted, if you stick to playing public matches you won't gain much experience, but by playing in competitive ladders and clan matches, one gains a feel for the game and quickens their senses. After playing 100+ clan matches, I can assure you live players shoot truer then AI do. So, if you are having a hard time; take a month or two off and try again after you play LIVE.

OH Yes this is the only and best way out to accomplish. If you've already experienced Crytek's Crysis then it won't be impossible to compete under the instant scenario. The key elements are speed, accuracy and most importantly good head-shot practice.

Do you consider it as right answer to my question as referred above?
