I have an xbox 360 with 2 routers.
One router is at the other end of the house with the modem connecting right to it. Its a wireless G(linksys)
Now i have a wireless B linksys in my room with my comp and my 360 connecting to it.
In the settings it says optain IP automatically. but before i had it on PPPoE and it never said anything about NAT but now that i have it on optain IP automatically it says i have a closed or strict NAT. I can't change it back to PPPoE because it no longer connects to the other router. So i'm kinda in a bind and i tried forwarding ports 88 and 3074 but that doesnt work.
Any help?

NAT= Network Address Translation
PPPoE=Broadband Protocol for DSHELL....
Anyway, suggestions, do you have your 360 set on PPoE Settings?, If so set it to DHCP, And then, for your router program the PPoE Settings in so it will automatically log in..
DHCP = Open NAT I do believe I use, DHCP.. It works fine for me.. Anyway.. Try that? And by the way, your Xbox 360 Wireless adapter doesn't work on B I believe.. I know A Is backwards compatiable with G, but I'm not sure about B.. Or maybe I'm screwed up, god damn IEEE Standards.. Getting me all confused.

no i don't use wireless adapters those are for laptops
too laggy for 360
And my router in my room won't work on PPPoE its screwed up somethings wrong with it. it worked fine but now it won't even connect to the other router.
and yeah i know what NAT and PPPeE stand for. =]

Edit the settings in your router configuration set it to enable PPoE, and just set your 360 for DHCP..

I would recommend making it just one network with no NAT in between the two subnets.
Set your perimeter router to DHCP. Set the internal IP of the router to something like 192.168.1.1
Disable DHCP on your Xbox router and set the internal IP of the router to something like 192.168.1.2
Set DHCP pool on perimeter router to 192.168.1.3-100
There is a setting on most linksys is the advanced routing page. Set your Xbox router to gateway and disable RIP (not needed). Also disable the firewall on the xbox router.
Then in essence your xbox router will turn into a switch and you will only have one subnet since you don't seem to need the actual routing functions of the router . Set your xbox to DHCP.
One device that should be PPoE is your perimeter router if your ISP uses PPoE for its WAN connection.
This setup is faster as you disable the middleman and the NAT. It should cause less headaches once you have it setup. Personally my network is the same but I have three routers....one for Wireless-N...one for Wireless-ABG....and one for my FIOS TVs. Works like a charm :)

Wireless N = Compatiable with G Correct?

yeah it is.
But i can't set my main router (the one that connects to the modem). Here's the set up. Modem-Router-some computers and my router= my router connects my computer and xbox
idk what the deal is but i tried setting the main one to PPPoE but it won't connect. and they also told me to set it to optain IP automatically. now the secondary router used to be set on PPPoE and it..just stopped working. they must've updated something. But now it won't work on PPPoE so that won't work.

Wireless N is incompatible with wireless G. BUT If a device connects to a wireless N network that is not N it will bring the whole network down to those speeds. So you run parallel wireless networks.
If you have a modem most likely that is making the PPoE connection. Trying shutting off PPoE on your perimeter router.

I have found that the way to change the NAT settings to Open is to open the ports that Xbox Live uses. A great page for walkig you through this is at http://www.portforward.com. The most commonly used ports are found at http://www.portforward.com/cports.htm.
Hope this helps!

Has your modem changed? I mean My modem was changed out to a wireless modem/router from Times Warner. My computer would periodically glitch. most people wouldn't notice and xbox reg and 360 would interfear with joining or boot me off randomly. They won't help you or tell you what's wrong because they built that glitch in so DVD recordings from the tv would not record hi quality. Well I finally got them to bring me out a reg modem and one of their higher techs suggested using the router from linxys that looks like its from spaceq/future lol two regular antenae and one rectangle on the top like a robot head, everytthing is fine now NAT is open. And also what they say is always hard wire 360 especially with games like Halo 3 where your conection can mean whether you live or die in a game. Anyway good luck! Just throwing out there what caused my NAT problems. ;)

Go with a switch for your computer and xbox..then the other computers or whatever in your house can run off the wireless...You will never have that dumb router conflict with a switch.

^ Agreed.
I'm still confused over what the actual problem is.. too much stuff jumbled into the same sentences/paragraphs.
You had PPPoE set to ENABLED, from what I could see..
Also, open the ports separately, DO NOT do 88 TO 3074. Do them separately.
Furthermore, if you cannot edit some settings because it seems to have "messed up", try doing a firmware backup. If you have not backed up your firmware before, then go get a new version, and install it. Usually a pretty easy fix, but not exactly guaranteed to work.
