A rumour has arisen in the US Official Xbox Magazine suggesting that the third title in BioWare's awesome KOTOR series could be with us as soon as Christmas or at least in 2008.

Towards the end of April we reported that BioWare had formed a new internal studio to create a Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic massively multiplayer online game. No further details were reported and BioWare still remain tight-lipped on anything to do with any possible new KOTOR games and what platforms they might appear on, though you've got to think that Xbox 360 is a safe bet.

Still, that hasn't stopped the US press reporting fresh rumours regarding the third title in the RPG series. From what was said in our comments section about the MMO, it seemed as though most of you were holding out for KOTOR 3 rather than a massively multiplayer online game.

Is your wish about to come true? Should we expect to hear something KOTOR-related at Microsoft's conference at E3 next month? Should we just stop talking about it until BioWare coughs up the goods? Probably.
Sounds good to me. Especially since they say it could be released this X-mas. Any thoughts?

Gamedreams has posted word that another installment of Knights of the Old Republic (in fact, KOTOR 3) is already in development

George and crew are most pleased with the initial performance of KOTOR, so pleased in fact that KOTOR 3 is well into development! This time however expect everything to be new and improved! An all new next-gen engine is being prepped as is a modified battle system that will place a heavier emphasis on the lightsaber. There are even whispers that the game may be shown in some form at E3 THIS year, though I’d expect it to be far from completion, perhaps nothing but a video!
We'll learn more about this at E3 I guess but for now take this with a grain of salt as nothing has been confirmed yet.

This was posted at Fragland back in 2005. Maybe they've finished it... I don't know but I sure am anxious to play Kotor 3. I loved the storylines and gameplay from Kotor 1 and 2, so 3 will be awesome... Not to mention the Force Unleashed coming out next year as well. It'll be a great gaming year for the Star Wars franchise.

Found this at g4v.com:

Earlier this year, BioWare announced the formation of a mini-studio devoted to developing the new Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic MMO. Since then, BioWare has remained mum about the extent of what they are developing, but rumor has it that they might be working on KOTOR 3 for Next Gen systems like the Xbox 360.
The Internet is ablaze as most fans are tepid about the MMO, but absolutely getting their panties in a bunch at the thought of a new KOTOR RPG.
Perhaps there will be some sort of interesting announcement at next month's E3, but if not, fans will have to continue to cross their fingers.

----Double Post Merged----
Also, at Bioware.com, there is a slot under "games" for a New Next Gen Game title, with the link unclickable. This probably means that the game is in development, but it is under some sort of NDA. There is a chance that this is the Kotor 3 title!

Star Wars MMO ftw
I bet any Star Wars MMO would be better than what has become of the Star Wars Galaxies of old which was destroyed by the Dark Side (Sony Online Entertainment).

However, turn based Star Wars such as KOTOR is a total ftl, turn based is teh lameness.

Well, supposedly they are going to have a brand new system for everything(data management, combat, skills, equipments, etc.). Its a new game, and many things can happen... I' psyched for it! Both the MMO and Kotor 3, almost as much as Assassin's Creed and Force Unleashed.

Primotech has released an article stating that the game should be out in 2009 and that Bioware was confirmed by a source close to Bioware as the creators of the game.

Man, I would love for it to be true. SWG was my first ever MMO and I have yet to find any mmo that even compares to the complexity and options swg had when it first came out. I did enjoy playing WOW, but it just did not come close to comparing for me. I still talk to old guild mates who can't believe what they did to kill the game... so sad, so sad

Yep, I'm psyched for it and I can't wait. Especially since there aren't that many great RPG's or the 360 to keep my busy(atleast there won't be until I get my hands on AC and Force Unleashed, lol.

Oh and by the way: AC has been confirmed for release on Nov. 13th.

Ah, I see. Well, I had wanted to get SW:G when everything went bad... so I wouldn't becasue I never got it.

I really hope they come out with another Kotor. Likewise, an MMO set in Kotor would just as amazing to me!

I'd prefer just another addition to the KotOR series without any online elements. Perhaps cooperative play, though... that might be cool.

Which, in and of itself, is a complete mystery. I mean, you have a company that produced the first big money MMO (Everquest), and a franchise with a fan base that can't even begin to be counted, and it went straight into the ground.

Market/Gaming Experience + Franchise with everything going for it = crap......who knew?

I disagree! SWG was an amazing game at launch and during its early stages. Besides the obvious star wars lore, you had combinations of over 30 professions, player-run economys (not as big then as now?), pets, player housing and cities.. not to mention the great mystery surrounding becoming a jedi. I have never been anywhere near as addicted to a game as I was that, and have never been since. Coming from someone who was definitely not more than a very casual gamer at the time, it was huge! Even when people did start to figure out the jedi process and the grindathon started, it was still reasonably a fun game. But once they had to go and completely change the gameplay, the game was never the same. I still talk to friends and remember back to the old days in which we had so much fun together. We would probably go right back even now, if they reverted back to the original game.

Its just a shame that they completely ruined a game that was so widely loved, and more complex than all these other rushed MMO's out there. If they created a KOTOR based MMO, and did it RIGHT they would have a HUGE instant windfall. One can only hope....

lol, Arbee, I have only heard about the endgame mess-up. I knew nothing fo the game before this happened, and that's when I heard everything(all of it was bad). I agree, from what I have browsed when researching KOTOR, it must ahve been amazing, because of all fo the great comments that turned into the end product bashing.

KOTOR was handed over to Obsidian and they made KOTOR 2, I doubt Obsidian will hand over the franchise back to Bioware especially since Bioware will be working on Mass Effect 2...And 3 since everyone knows its a trilogy, if you didnt you do now.

KOTOR MMO I will NOT buy that, I hate MMO's they are a rip off and not worth it thats imo.
