Computer monitors get much better resolutions than old TVs. I was wondering if I get one of those VGA cable dealies and hook my Xbox 360 to my computer monitor, would I be able to finally flip that little switch to "HDTV?"
Or would Lucy, my xbox 360 (shut up, You all know you've got names for your xboxes too!), not like me doing that?

Hmm... i was going to see if I could just buy some type to adapter to do the same job, but the outlook seems grim.

i use the vga cables.
good price for hd on your monitor, the only thing i dont like is i have to leave my pc on to get audio because you plug the audio connection thats only about a foot and a half off of the main cable.
i dont even think your tower could be on the floor and have it reach /:
my towerr is right next to my monitor on my desk
Lucy will look much sexier in high res :p

you get what you pay for, and honestly i highly doubt that would bring the HD to it.
i use a VGA, have been, it's definitely HD quality, i couldn't imagine playing 360/PS3 without VGA.
the 360 VGA cord is $40, completely worth it to have HD quality. i'd rather have a nice big monitor than a giant $2,000 HDTV :p

Nugatory, those don't work for keeping high definition. From what i've been hearing, the 'knockoff' 360 VGA cables are shite as well. Yes, its $40 for the Microsoft one, but its the best route to go. I will be getting one soon enough.

dang im stuck with sticking the adapter into my mic jack on my tower so i cant use headphones ):
if i plug headphones in i cant adjust the volume so its blasting full volume.
i should buy a nice pair that has a volume adjuster.

I went to Future Shop (the only place that has the wires). They're ~45$. Plus I'd want to get a VGA switch or something so I can switch back to my PC easily because that would probably be cheaper than buying a second monitor.
I'll have to wait for all this because it would be stretching the budget a little TOO far.
Also, I don't understand how they're supposed to work. The cable coming out of my monitor is a Male, and the VGA portion of the cable they sell is also male. At least the third party one is. The Xbox one you can't really see because that part's hidden away in the back of the box.

with the official microsoft one you get a sex changer that allows you to make the VGA a female if your monitor is male and vice versa.

that's a really good VGA changer. i use it to change my monitor from 360 to ps3. im not sure if it works the same with a computer, i'm tired and just woke up and cant figure it out

Aren't most VGA monitors Male? I mean most things computer related follow standards. Like all the power cables being the same so they are easily interchangeable and replaceable, etc.
It doesn't make sense.

well like i said, it doesn't really matter, it comes with a sex changer soo either way you're safe.

lol it's just the fact that they didn't make it to fit the standard without adapters is weird.
