This is a one of the few games that I'm really looking forward to for the 360, and the newer screenshots show off some pretty amazing graphics as well. I can't wait for this game to hit shelves, so I can run around throwing junk at zombies.
Would be awesome with a co-op mode, though I doubt this will be included. Still, it seems like a pretty open game, so it should make for some pretty fun gaming sessions.

I played this at E3 and it was pretty cool. I was pretty pumped about it too until I played it. It's basically a GTA with zombies. Oh well, zombies are still cool, and I'm still getting it! :D

I'm stoked for this game, it's gonna be awesome especially with the modes you can unlock, like unlimited time and another day for story (or something like that). It would've been a lot better with online co-op, like my new favorite game better, but it will still be pretty good. If you looked at the older screenshots, the graphics looked like a PSP game, but now since it was delayed they spent more time tweaking it so it looks much better.
I'm also into zombie movies so this is like Dawn of the Dead in a game. Oh and if you didn't know they're making a Day of the Dead remake!

This game is starting to look pretty next-gen, and I agree with you FLIPINOM4D - co-op would be awesome. Or deathmatch... imagine smashing eachothers heads in with plasma-screen TV's, shovels, etc.
Have they said anything about a multiplayer mode at all? Has it been denied, or have they just kept their mouths shut?

The amount of work that must have went into making all these items for the game is really impressive (http://www.tothegame.com/sshotfeat.asp?screen=7516&pic=25). The link is just one example.

Yea, since it got delayed they really worked on the graphics to make it look like a 'next-gen' game.
Pretty much no chance of co-op or multiplayer of any sort. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/d/deadrising/
Even if they did come out with DLC, I'm not going to pay $15 for co-op or whatever.
I'm betting on a sequel with it included.

Yeah, I think it should be a standard that the demo comes out 2 weeks before launch. Or something along those lines.
I'm unsure how I feel about the 72 hour countdown thing though. It may be great but I typically am one of those people who takes their time and goes really slow (I gawk at things in FPS). Timers usually fusterate me... But I've got a feeling this one will add a nice dynamic edge to the game.

There's a LOT of zombie slaughtering you can do... so many ways, so many weapons, so much fun! And if you've peeked, there are quite a few achievements to go after relating to killing zombies. So if that's all you want to do, there's a lot of ways to go about it.
But there's so much more to it. I'm really enjoying the story right now, and am aiming to make my first play through about uncovering the story. After that, there seem to be plenty more things to do, so much more to find out about what's going on, that there really seems to be plenty of reason to play through it multiple times.
Combine that with the fact that it's not an easy game (though saving status and restarting helps a lot), and there's plenty of reason to buy and not just rent the game.

The real-time structuring of Dead Rising has its unique qualities, but it doesn't always work particularly well. Specifically, the mission structure and the game's rather punishing save system simply don't get along with one another. Save points are scattered in a few specific spots throughout the mall, and you only get one save per storage device on the Xbox 360. Considering most people probably only have one storage device, that means one save for the whole game. The inherent problem with this is that because the game revolves so heavily on a rigid schedule for the case files, if you save yourself into a corner where you can't feasibly get to that next case file in time, you're screwed. All the case files are connected, and if you fail to get to one on time, the trail goes cold and you're unable to pick up any of the other story missions. This sounds pretty damn awful, I'm an addict to quicksaves and quickloads so this one will probably be hard as hell.

They make it seem worse in that review. You can save more than once per game, but you can only save in the bathroom or security safe room. You only get one slot to save per storage device, so you keep saving over your previous save unless you have a memory card too. It'll be rough, but still should be fun.

They make it seem worse in that review. You can save more than once per game, but you can only save in the bathroom or security safe room. You only get one slot to save per storage device, so you keep saving over your previous save unless you have a memory card too. It'll be rough, but still should be fun.A little better than what I had feared, then. Still, it seems it's possible to screw yourself over by saving in places where you're unable to reach the next story-point. Atleast Gamespot recommends to be cautious about the side-missions atleast the first time through.

You can and probably will screw yourself over at least once. It seems like some of the decisions they made with the game are to force you to play it multiple times. I would have played through it more than once anyways, so it doesn't kill the game.

Unless your goal is to just play through it once and move on, there is more than enough reason to play it through multiple times. And the way that PP builds up and makes you stronger for future games means that each restart should be easier.
And with the saves, if you're not careful, I'm sure you can put yourself into a point where you may be forced to miss part of the storyline, or have trouble moving on past the save point. It means be careful. But if you get stuck, you can still save and restart and gain the benefits of experience (character and yours).

Having a lot of fun with the game, but also slightly frustrated having to do stuff over and over again sometimes. Still good fun though.
Here's a tip someone posted over at another forum for the same part you're stuck on (it is lengthy, but worth it):
"It was in the middle of the first nite and every time I tried to take a survivor through there they'd always get killed by those damn idiots. I finally had enough and stocked up on ammo, picked up the uzi hidden on the awning and made sure I had plenty of healing food. I found wine in the food court heals a ton of your health.
The trick to killing them is to get them to ram the jeep into a corner of the mall or in a cluster of trees so that they get stuck and either fire away with your handgun or uzi. The best way I found though was to run up with a sledge hammer and just bash the driver a couple of times and he dies. After killing the driver, the passenger jumps over to take over the wheel. Hopefully they're still stuck in the trees or in a corner, then you can just repeat till the last convict is the gunner. He doesn't move he just stays in the back shooting at you so the only way to kill him is with a gun as far as I can tell.
After you kill all 3 (you'll get good pp bonuses for each kill) make sure you examine the gun. You can then take it off and carry around a huge 50 caliber machine gun with 200 rounds! Unfortunately for me there was a huge group of zeds surrounding the jeep and before I even had a chance to use it, the gun was knocked from my hands. Also make sure you jump in the driver's seat, you'll unlock the Achievment points for jacking their ride."

or, even easier would be to grab a sniper rifle from the gunshop in north plaza (or just use your uzi but aiming is more difficult).
Go find the picnic area. climb on the barrels, then jump to the roof (sort of tricky till you figure out the sweet spot). Up here you can snipe away at the jeep without worrying about getting run over or any zombies ambushing you.
I really like the game.. but its taking some getting used to. I've had to restart like 8 times... Though.. I'll admit I aws leveling for the majority of the restarts. At the beginning when your about to go down the elevator.. you find that guy whos looking for his wife. If you bring him to his wive and then snap a photo just after they've hugged (as they're pulling away) you get a photo worth close to 10,000 PP.. then you get PP bonus for bringing them home. I did that a bunch of times after I got fed up with the fact that I was getting pwned by zombies the first night. I would run through the photo bonus mission and first boss fight for good measure.. then restart.. did that like 5-6 times.. dont remember exactly. Only took me maybe 2 hours tops and my char leveled quite a bit.
And then I restarted a couple times since once you figure out a pattern your comfortable with.. the game is relatively quick to run through (at least the first two cases).. so when I die or screw up.. I just start over completely.. maybe i'm just crazy.. maybe its my way of revolting against this absurd saving restriction.
That said.. I really dislike the saving restriction.. it makes the game more challanging and forces replayability.. however I like replayability when its on my terms.. not a game mechanic. Of course.. the game would probably be really easy and dull without it.. and its that very mechanic which will make this game stick out as memorable 5 years from now.

well i beat the jeep guys. but now everytime i go outside in that little park area, they are still alive. i'm like, wtf?!
so i just ignore them now and just run through as fast as i can.
asphix i did that too, the first time i just grabbed the old man, and then the woman, but then i died and put them together, i saw the PP thing, and SNAP i got a couple achievements lol.
this game deffinatly requires playing it through multiple times. i'm gonna finish the cases this time through, then hopefully just kill zombies the second time through. i just killed the fat ugly lady cop phsyco. and now i have to kill the girl on the motorcycle. at least i think i'm supposed to kill her. i have like 1,400 kills so far.
and the raincoat cult really pisses me off. they gassed me and i got caught, and you get stripped down and you have to kill probably 50 of them with one sword, some stools, a box, and a skateboard, that really sucked lol.
also where is this uzi at?

The location of the uzi, from another forum:
"The Uzi is on the awning near the entrance to the warehouse you come out of next to the camera shop. To get it you must go to your right from the entrance, to the first set of stairs. On the first landing look to your right there's a blue awning that you can jump to and climb up on. Now start running and jumping back to the right the way you came from. On the last awning there's a Uzi with 100 rounds of ammo."

Infinite mode is tough, as your health constantly drains, and items don't respawn. I'm waiting to go back to it until I'm at level 50, especially since you don't get PP in that game mode.
And both 5 and 7 day survivor achievements are going to require infinite mode to reach, since the story doesn't last that long. At least as far as I can tell - I haven't gone and tried playing through it without doing the case files to see what happens at the end.

Is this game worth purchasing? Or is it too linear to invest money in?
Limafoxtrot
08-15-2006, 01:07 PM
Its far deeper than I anticpated - it is somewhat linear in that there is a case progression - however there is plenty to do and the place is large. There are a lot of optional cases you can do as well - if you want to and have time. Its a lot of fun.
The negs -
- 1 save slot - and if you don't read carefully you can save your stats but restart the storyline
- Small text for the mission objectives
- Aiming system pretty much sucks for guns
r33hash
08-15-2006, 01:33 PM
I've played the demo. I love the way it plays. And its obvious that you can build stats and become a better character as the game progresses. I'm just curious, if you were to do every mission, optional or not, how long would the game last you?
And are all the missions basically kill or be killed? or does it variate?
H2O SkywalkerX
08-15-2006, 01:50 PM
yeah it is worth buying.
but i disagree lima. the aiming system in the guns is good for the game. it works. and with the text, as long as you have an HDTV or a computer monitor you can read it fine. the saves do suck though.
EDIT:well you can't finish all the scoop missions the first time you play. it's deffinatly not a one time beat it and quit game. i would say i beat 72 hour mode and overtime mode in 20 hours. with all the dieing, not being able to save, and the fact that i wanted the unbreakable achievement.
then after that you can play those modes again at the same level you finished on. beat the scoop missions you didn't the first time through.
then go into infinity mode and survive for as long as possible as your health slowly drains. kill all the zombies, cause that is what infinity mode is for. i'd say this is a good game, lengthy and fun.

I agree with Skywalker for the most part. I am really enjoying the game when I'm not cussing at it for making me redo something. :) I do think the aiming system is fine once you get your character oriented, but it does take some time to get used to. The shooting without doing the right trigger aiming is quite poor though, as you are as likely to miss as you are to hit anything. That is only a minor gripe though since guns are only a small part of your arsenal. Slicing zombies in half with your katana.... good times.

This game was awesome... I cant wait to play through it yet again. So far i've seen about 5 endings including the "true ending" but i think there might be 2 more, so i'll go for those. I also gotta get the zombie genocider achievement as well, but i'll take basically 1 complete game. My friend did it, it took him about 60 some in game hours... but I saw him get the achivement and the reward is freakin' sweet. Basically the only achievement i think will be hard is the get rescue 50 survivors... but if you time it right you could save Brad, Jen, Barnaby and Isabella and loose 4 others, so that'll give you a little slack. I know how to get all the other achievements but some will be quite time consuming.

I did not know that, some people have lied to me :(
Capcom will be releasing a patch to make the text more readable on CRT and SDTV's (basically anything with a resolution less than 720p)
It's a really good game, I have beat 72 hour mode three times (just finished my third time today) and Overtime once (soon to be two). Essentially this game is a sandbox type game except the story (called cases) force it to be more linear at times. There is a lot to do, so if you promise yourself that you'll complete story mode the first time through don't get sidetracked or you could miss out. I've had to do two parts over again since I took too long finishing them, this gives a little bit of an extra challenge, but it is very fun. The bosses are amazing (Capcom excels at them), voice acting is well done, there's an excellent soundtrack and it just feels really well polished especially the story, I found it really good.

This game is really fun, and some of the pictures I've taken of the Zombies...like one pushing a shopping cart are pretty funny. I just picked it up yesterday and it's pretty hard. I hate running like an elderly person too. Did anyone notice how Frank slouches like a little old man? It's pretty funny. Anyway, I've only played a few min. so I know I need to level up more to run faster and learn new skills.
I have to say picking up almost anything and killing hundreds of zombies at a time is incredibly fun and addicting. So is taking pictures of them. I love how you can try on different clothes too. Most of the time I was walking around in a little kids shirt and daisy duke type shorts....so funny.
I pretty much have the same complaints has everyone else, small hard to read text, and it sucks how you only have one save slot, plus the character animation is pretty funny looking. I'm sure I can do something about the text without having to buy an HDTV, and I just have to watch out when I save, and the story and fun gameplay can make up for the sometimes ugly characters.
Lol, if I were Romero, I think I would be pretty upset...I had to watch both versions of Dawn of the Dead after playing this.
Anyway, this one is really worth the buy.

Go into the service tunnels, that is definitely the best way. The entrance to the parking lot is near north plaza (to the West, I think). Grab a car and make a good little circuit down there to get as many zombies as possible, as fast as possible without having your car break down. That was probably the hardest part of the whole thing; figuring out the best way to get around down there.
Once you get it down you can soar through it, make sure you have someone to talk to or something since it would be very dull without moral support.
After I get the Genocider, I'm going to try for Clothes Horse but if times an issue I'm just going to wait at the Helipad for 24 hours (Outdoorsman achievement... just leave the 360 on for a couple of hours since it's about the same enjoyment as watching paint dry). After I finish the game, I'm going to go for the Frank the Pimp/Tour Guide and the Psycho Collector achievements for my next run through. Then I'll either do the Saint and Transmissionary at the same time or try for the seven day survivor (since the MegaBuster is a must). Just thought I'd give you a run down for both myself (keep everything straight) and you guys just incase you wanted a little pointer.
Oh and don't forget to finish the game that you're on when going for the genocider, if you don't, you won't unlock the megabuster

The transmissionary achivement is gonna be pretty hard (in my opinion). In order to get it, not only do you have to answer every call Otis sends, but you have to complete the missions he gives you.
Transmissionary, 7 day, and 5 day survivors are defenitely gonna be the hardest.

Remember Mega Man's weapon (the blaster dealie on his arm)... yeah thats a mega buster. Its pretty awesome, you can kill Carlito with one blast of it (at least in survival mode).
... but I think the 5 day survivor reward is even better...

[SPOILERS]
Hahaha, I have figured out some very cool things.
First in the beginning, when you get the map through a transfer from Otis and make your way on to the roof, you meet Jeff looking for his wife Natalie. She is by the door and the left side of the roof; the right side is where the elevator is. Take Jeff to Natalie and get YOUR CAMERA READY. Take a pic when they hug and that pic gets you 10,000 PP and both achievements. Then take them to the safe house.
You can get the shotgun in the beginning of the game from that Brian dude who gets eaten right at the start. You can get an SMG in the Al Frances Plaza in the big water fountain. With the shotgun you can get rid of those cons in part two. Just two shots takes one out, then you can take the big gun they have on their car. Although, you have to drop the some weapons if you want to switch to others.
Another thing is if you give the shotgun like I did to a surviver, they use it very well if its in the right hands and..... they have infinite ammo. In my file they take out the zombies very easily. However, do not give it to Aaron. When you do give a surviver the shotgun take it back before you go in the safe room!! Otherwise, say good bye to it.
Also, when you go to the entrance plaza with Brad to see that doc dude, right after you beat Carlito for the first time, follow him into the entrance plaza but once you are in and he opens the gate, don't follow him just yet.
Go to the upper floor into a shop called "In the Closet" look for it on your map. There should also be some zombies up there as well. Take the zombies out, go in the shop and walk to the first wall you see when you enter. By the cash register/till there is a back room where you will find Bill, a surviver. Move the boxes out of his way. He has no idea of the zombies so he'll say good bye to you and walk out the front door of the shop and then he'll be like, " What the heck is going on?" Talk to him again and he joins you. This is where I gave him the shotgun. He's good with it, but he is a slow runner.
Now go back to brad and let the cut scene happen. The doc will say "No, I'm not going with you until you can tell me its safe and blah blah blah" Then take him to the food court and wait for Otis to call you and tell you about Brad and Aaron. Then, at 4:30, he'll also call you about Leah in the jewelry shop. Then you can go in the park and find the cons there as well as Sophie. Before you go in the park make sure that you have all four survivors ready. Give the SMG to Brad, as for Aaron... HE F'ing SUCKS!! he can't do shiz.
So this is what I did. I took the shotgun from Bill and give him a handy gun. Then I took Leah and frigen CHARGED!!!!!!!!!! at the cons with my shot gun. I made Leah go in the tree zone, and made the cons crash in a tree. I took out the driver. Then the passenger took over. I took him out and then the gunner. Then I took Leah and told Sophie to follow me and the others too. I gave the shotgun back to Bill first then headed to the doors of the Paradise plaza. I told Bill to go near the doors with his shotgun and he took out most of the zombies. Then I took Leah again and made my way to the safe zone with them all.
Aaron really can tick you off. One very important thing is do NOT use a sledge hammer when you got your buddies close. Last time, I whacked Sophie and had to do the whole thing over again, ah!!! Then, when you get to the Ware house, a cut scene should happen, the zombies should drop dead. However, if get there too late, say the lights are cut and the zombies turn red eyed, then they won't. Get the survivors to the safe house. Remember, take back the SHOTGUN and SMG FIRST!! Otherwise, you have a hard time whacking the dude in the gun shop in the north plaza. Damn...I'm now very tired......

Limafoxtrot

smg - is in the fountain in Al Fresca plaza (there is a dumbbell there as well)
shot gun is where ever the guy brian gets killed by the zombies - note where he is before they appear and then clear out the zombies around there and his body (they are usually munching on his body for a snack)
If you want something back - give them something else and I think they drop the first thing. Some won't take a second item though. make sure you've almost used up whatever it is you give them
Dizzydude
08-23-2006, 04:04 PM
SMG is also on the awning above the camera store beside the warehouse exit (go to the first set of the stairs and jump onto the blue awning).
The Shotgun and Sniper rifle is also in the Huntin' Shack in North Plaza, check your map, it's the most Northern store from when you enter N. Plaza from Leisure Park.

why thank you. but i have to say, i should never have read some of the faqs on gamefaqs, but i did not get the info i posted above from them. its all me. But I Must say....... THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST FRUSTRATING GAMES IN THE WORLD! not that it is bad or anything but it can get on your nerves at times. and one more BIG THING when you wack Adam the clown and he drops those super duper chain saws.....THEY ARE ALWAYS THERE, they respawnd there then after he is dead, and once you get greg and he shows you the short cut form wonder land to the paridise plaza, the game is a bit easyer then. but don't forget the chain saw thing. and when the scoop Above the law with that Ich Jo go there as fast as you can if you want to save more gals, she has up to 5 ladys and she is doing very bad things to them such as harrasment. SAVE THEM
H2O Tyrant Sparda
08-23-2006, 09:55 PM
Some more very important tips are, when you get the call for the scoop call the lovers
there are two survivers calll Ross and Tonya, but before you can do this you gotta get
brads meds in the super market in the north plaza, but you gotta fight STev the mad man with a shoping cart or death because it has blades and knifes on it and he has a shot gun, the way i wacked him was, i toke a chain saw from the wonderland adams
grave zone, the space car ride zone and two hand guns, when i started i first toke a pic of him and the JUMP to the top of the shelf and then to the next ial before he tryed to
shoot me with his gun, the i made my way to his ial and dodged his cart and toke my chain saw and hit him 3 times and wow his already dead..... what the heck did i need hand guns for???? ya for me, then you get the key to the back rooms oh and before that a cut sence happens, he al like "My store... whos gonna run it when im gone..
my stock, my sales....my costomers.....and dead" then note when you go fr the meds, the enterance is not at the parmacy its that door you went to to start the fight go in there grab the meds and go towards the wonderland and get the lovers scoop first, BUT BE QUICK, theres not much time left. they are on the second floor, ross has been injurded and he will ask for a gun "DO NOT GIVE HIM THE GUN OR THEY BOTH DIE" if you do he kills himself, and then tonya willl cry and mock you and stays there and theres nothing you can do then.
what ya gotta do is talk and talk, to both of them until they say okay. but theres a catch.... you gotta carry him, the good thing is when you carry some one the zombies can't get you when you run, its a glich they forgot, BUT they can still get tonya, but not to easyely. when you got them head to the womens toilet in wonderland
and use the short cut, and bring them to the safe house.
AH break time..... guess not
to beat most boss i would recomend to use the miny chain saws, they work very well on those goons that you meet on the second day, the ones dressed in yellow rain coats and there cult dude with the sword, i used the saw and cut them alllllll down, and then saved the girl in the box jennifer, note if you get gased, start over, she is dead....
when you get the call Above the law which should be around 12 noon
go there first thing, yes time will be very short, go to wonder land and GRAB the chain saw, what i did was charge at her RIGHT after you take a quick pic of her and wack her with the chain saw about 4 times and she is wacked. note if you go there right away, you can save all 4 girls, the sexyest one i have to say would be the one in the middle........
Ah and onece you have saved them from her you go out the shop and then there are two people hanging from that big doll thing with zombies trying to get them, take that saw and wack the zombies, and take a chuck of meat from the dead un dead zombers and throw it at the two survivers so they fall down
talk to them and get them to fallow you, they are saly and some fat dude, take them and the girls to the toilet, and get to the safe room.
Then soon after you will get a call called Girl Haunting, when you get this, GO THERE FAST, ONCE THE BAR IS RED ITS GAME OVER,
the reason is then when you beat her she drives away, and thats because the nexted case is right after tht one, at 12midnight you have time thruogh the blue and 1/2 of the yellow, the things you will need for this case is at least 4 handdys G get it. hahaha, then when you get to the north plaza and the cut sence right away get to the top of the cat walk and in the middle that is other wise you are more open to her shots, i'll say it again, right away get to the middle top of the cat walk and aim and take her out to launch:D when she drives away from you during the fight go down and she'll come RIGHT BACK FOR YOU! so get you bum right back up there and start shooting again.
When her healh is at its last parts go down and jumpon that trash can right behide you at the start of the fight, its a can or a bing box. i can't remember. then they kissand make up and then you gotto go but there at 12 mid, but before that... there are shiz load of other mission to do. but you can NOT BE LATE FOR THIS ONE
otherwise game over again.
Now if yall will excuse me i gotta catch up on some well deserved rest......

im have been working on genocider tonight, but i was playing halo and that at the same time, so i only got 5,000. but grabbing the car and the bike at the tunnel entrance area, then driving down in there, kill as much with the car, then grab the truck that's to the left of the entrance really works well. except the truck takes for ever to turn around.
Dizzydude
08-24-2006, 02:35 AM
I hate that truck...
Save it every 10k or so, just incase something messes up. I thought I'd be super happy when I got it, and it was just a relief that it was over.
I'll give you my little map if you'd like, I got anywhere from 700 (unlucky) - 2000 ish (lucky) for each run throughout the entire 'ride'.... First get in the convertable, head into the tunnels and turn right. Make your first left and then make a right at the very end, make your first left and keep going straight. You should be coming up to a white car, ditch the sports car and head into the sedan. Go out and make your second left and then your first right. Go around the curve on the right side, then make another right at the end. Keep following this straight away until you get to the truck area. Kill as many as you can (I put it into reverse and did a circle and kept doing that until it broke or until I killed a lot of zombies). Take the truck out, and go out the exit (first right). Kill some zombies out here in the parking lot but try NOT to hit the sports car, it can get damaged really easily.
Aim for propane tanks the zombies are wheeling around too, those do a lot of damage. And basically just try to hit as many as you can.

For the geno atchivement what i did with my other file was i toke 5 miny chain saws and went to al frences.... the outdoor part of the mall, the one between, the food court and the enertance plaza, there are alot of zoms there some i just wack and choped away, then if i saw any queens, those bees that you can get from those with there hand in the sky, because they wantta fly!!!:D :D then head to the enterace and back and start alover again, you should then be running out soon of saws, make your way back to the wonderland, that or start with the car thing that some other person said, but you can run out of zombies faster and crash alot. but it does work:D and if you want you may add me. But im at work today and my 360 is at home.

I found the car way went by really quickly and I never had my car break down to early (except when it was my own fault, like crashing the truck into it), I got 250 kills a minute that way.
Augh! I'm kind of mad right now sinceat 10:55 I booted up Dead Rising, went outside and left my 360 on so I would be rescued by the helicopter and get the Outdoorsman. Well I found out after going back at just before one that it pauses the game after 20 minutes if you left it alone. So now I have to wait an hour longer now but I have a pen lightly wedged under the joystick and my controller plugged in so it shouldn't do it again.

some other easy atchivements are the bowling ball thing called strike!, you can find the ball in the paridise plaza by the water fountain by the restaruant on the main floor, walk around it and you should see a blue ball, then go to the maintenance tunnel in the park, and there should be unoff zoms there to get ten flying.
the other is zom ride, just find a load of zoms in an area and do zombie ride but don't double click, just onece and then walk in a circale and you got it. thats 40 points, the other is legenary soldier, just get the miny chain saw where you wack adam the clown, about 3 of them should get the job done, you need to wack 10 soldiers from the milatary when they attack you. thats near the end. the nexted is the car stunt. get the car in the maintance tunnel in the park. then drive to the big pound between the food court enterance and paridise plaza, then you should see a bench with a bump of a hill beside it, then bench should be facing the water and the hill on its right. drive at the hill at full speed and fly at the water. and done.

I've finally gotten my hands on this game, and so far it's been nothing short of a big disappointment - it's probably the prettiest game on the 360 so far, but this game has just too many touches that makes it horrible to play, and I'll list up those I've come across so far:
The save system. I'm a man who likes the quicksave/load system in most games, I hate having to go back to a savepoint that's so far away that most of my recent efforts are a waste, so I save pretty frequently.
The aim system. Oh my f**king God. You can't walk when you're aiming (for some odd reason), so you're pretty much a sitting duck. When you go into the aim mode, you won't be aiming at the direction the camera is pointing, which is confusing as hell. You can't really aim that fast, so chances are that you'll get one straight in the 'nads before you'll get to point over whoever you'd like to shoot.
The time preassure. It's not a free roaming game when you have to be on certain locations at specific times.
I'm pretty pissed now, so this isn't the most mellow and reflected post, but I'm pretty disappointed with this game overall. The learning curve of this game is (as far as I'm concered) pretty steep - I'm up against some guy with a machinegun, and since the aim system blows he's rather hard to take down - and even if you manages to cap him twice in the head, he will still shoot at you, and manage to knock you over. Since you can't move when you're aiming, this is pretty damn hard.
When you send the player up against such hard enemies at the start of a game it will leave the player with the idea of a badly designed game (same as I did with BF2:MC and DOA4), and it will be left leaving dust in his or her collection.
Yes, I will probably spend some more time with it, since I've already bought it.
This is not really a game I would, at this point, recommend.

Thats a bummer you dont like it, but there are still plenty of people (myself included) who do. As for guns... I never really used them. I used the Shotty, and the Sniper occasionaly, but this game was designed with the up close melee fighing in mind. As for the time constraints, I didnt mind them, I think without them this game would have been way more boring than it was. And besides, there is plenty of time to kill zombies anyways.

I think I posted earlier about the aim system - it blows - however just know it is always stright forward from your character - you have to take a step toward your target then aim - and don't use guns close quarters - they are too slow.
The save thing - well - it is what it is. I hate it, and think it adds needless time to game play. Time preasure however is part of the point of the game, so I don't mind that as much, I just wish after the ending you could get a free roam mode. The Scoops are optional so skip some if you need to.
Finally - if Carlitio is giving you fits - one thing that really helps is to save your stats and start over - you'll get to him with greater health the second time and that makes a big difference. Keep a good stock of food on you and drop to the foodcourt for more if needed. Also - get to him and beat him up - its a lot easier than shooting him.

That is a very good point. It is nearly impossible to beat the game the first time. I like the game, but the Overtime mode is frustrating me because I can't get everything without getting taken to the helicopter. Then I have to get all of the items all over again.

I rented the game, and made two very fun observations.
1) Frying pan heated up on a stove > all
2) Crashing your ride in the maintenance tunnels is a baaaaaaaaaaaad idea.

Oh yeah - I was sad to find there was no 'scoop' mission where I got to go beat Otis about the head with the walkie talkie.

unfortunately I got to play this game for the whole of three minutes (minus the demo) and I know what you're talking about when it comes to the walkie talkie. I was gonna just let the zombies into the Security Room for that crap. Stupid Otis, and even more, why can't you move when you answer it!!!

Actually, you can move when you answer it, but you can't fight of course. While I thought the idea of it was alright, they shouldn't have had him call so much. They shouldn't have had him call you when you're in the middle of fighting or on a mission (or both).

I don't really like the true ending, it was pretty lacking. And I was a bit disappointed that you couldn't just free roam and have fun just killing crap like Gangster said.
It's so weird, you can't just rent it because it will take awhile to beat and many play throughs to get everything, so you should at least borrow it or buy it used if you can, but when you buy it's so annoying at times, you don't even want to play it once you have it, but killing zombies is so addictive.
I don't understand how they got so many little things wrong in such a potentially great game. Also, did anyone read the October issue of EGM? You should have, Athena Twin is one of the 5 Most Deadliest Gamers issue, but more on topic, on page 36 there is an interview with the games director, Yoshinori Kawano that annoyed the living daylights out of me. This is just an excerpt by the way not the whole interview:
EGM: Is it really possible to save everyone in one playthrough? Or are players simply forced to restart and beef up Fank to a high level?
YK: It's actually possible to save everyone on a single runthrough without leveling up, but you'd really have to know where everything is and how to do it as efficiently as possible. [Programmer] Jiro Taoka can do it, but it's very difficult.
That's great for Taoka, but what about everyone else that didn't help create the game and subsequently sat down for hours playing it? I don't mind a challenge or anything, but come on!
EGM: Damn, Taoka is hardcore! Now, the save system can also be tricky, since it holds only one save. We actually screwed ourselves once because we saved to late to complete the main cases and we had to start over. Why not just allow multiple saves?
YK: We decided that, since the game takes place in a "real-time" style of environment, it would create a tension that you couldn't get simply from hitting restart and trying from your most recent save. We wanted there to be a penalty for your actions. Its's something of a reprieve, actually, to be able to replay a chapter with the skills you've learned.
It's not a reprieve, if you happened to save in the wrong spot, but sure whatever you say;)
EGM:What's up with the supersmall font? Why not include a font that's legible for non-HDTV owners?
YK: [Laughs]People should definitely have an HDTV before buying an Xbox 360
Haha, yeah that's really funny how he can afford an HDTV for selling an expensive game that most people can't even play comfortably because they can't read the text on the screen. The fact is that they neglected about half of all 360 owners without HDTV, which is why he can only laugh and not answer the question. Seriously, NEVER, never neglect your consumers, which a majority are in the middle income or lower bracket and HDTV is still up there in price.
So anyway, if I had to give this game a grade, of ABCD or F in our "School of Game"(Which is what I think I'll call our grade system for reviews on site) it would probably be a D, no matter how much it breaks my heart because this is really a great looking game, and so much fun, but they could have done so much better. Hey, but I give em a gold star for trying!:p

After beating the initial part of the game to get to the Overtime mode, I don't know what score I would give the game.
On one hand, I think the game is great. Overall I thought the story part of the game was interesting, the world they created in the mall, and the amount of ways you can attack the zombies is great.
On the other hand, there are things that keep this game from being as good as it should be. I can tolerate doing things over and over again to an extent. A lot of games, such as racing games, make you do it. It's just how some of the missions are structured that makes the save system frustrating. The time-oriented case files and the save system don't mix. I don't need the game to be easy. The problem is forcing you to do things over and over again. It's not a choice. I also find Overtime mode completely ridiculous.
Overall, Dead Rising is a good and entertaining game. It could have been even more fun though if it wasn't so frustrating at times. Hopefully they balance the game out better with Dead Rising 2.

This is not really a game I would, at this point, recommend.
You can save in toilets, not just the safety room place.
You can go into the option and change the aiming thing so it goes to where the camera is facing.
But the time thing is kind of annoying, a free roam mode would be good and maybe some zombie related mini games.

great game, but it has some flaws. I liked the story too, it was interesting and some scenes were well done. My favorite scenese were, and spoilers by the way, these:
Adam the Clown's Death Scene - Brutally gory
Sean (Cult leader)'s death scene - same, except less so.
Brad's zombification - touching, and I felt compelled to shoot him with the gun he pushes toward you, and you can't say it wasn't chilling when he said "I'm already dead."
Jessie's zombification - holy ****, did you see her tear that guys throat out, with her teeth?!
Cliff's Death Scene - sad
Leah the survivor - her baby got eaten, that sucks
Ross - don't give him a gun, he pulls a Jackson Pollock all over the wall behind him with it.
Carlito's Death Scene - horribly ironic.
and other moments would be...
Frank's Zombie Walk ability, facial expressions are classic,
The game is well done, but there were frustrating bits, namely the special forces.

How exactly do you do the zombie walk? Does there have to be a crowd of zombies or can you just stay on the same one?

completely different skill than I was talking about. Your thinking of the Zombie Ride, which requires a bunch of zombies packed together pretty tight to move around on their heads, and I'm sure that you are either pushed off or fall off if you stay on one too long.
The Zombie Walk, the one I meant, is a Shaun of the Dead reference where Frank walks around like a Zombie, really slowly, and zombies won't want to take a bite out of him. The facial expressions make Frank look really stupid/funny.

Oh right =P I haven't been playing much (got N3 and Tomb Raider) so I clearly don't have that skill then.

OXM said it perfectly when this game isn't really for the recreational gamer, it's a pretty hardcore game. I didn't mess myself over with a save once, so I don't mind the save system, it makes everything a challenge to get everything done on time. I agree though that you can't relax and just kill zombies, you're always rushed.
Co-op would've made this game amazing!

Maybe they will do a Kameo-esque patch later on? Imagine a deathmatch type seek and destroy mode where you have to kill other players whilst staying clear of zombies. Or zombie racing.

AT LAST!!! i finaly had the time and i beat the game. anyway i found out some pretty cool things when i did, when it is just abou time to fight those swat guys, you can go to the gun shop and that ideot will be gone aswell as those other three who show up later. you can grab three shot guns and a sniper. when you'ev cleared the hallway the leads to the "gun" shop you will see two of the opps guys taking out some zoms, make sure that the zoms are not near you, then take out your sniper and pull off some shots of them from afar, they will start waking to you, move into the empty shop in that hallway that you are in, pull out you shoty and with two good shots they should be done for. NOTE be for you do this go to your new hideout and save, just in case you die. but not to worry, if you get markmecwierd you'll be in a copter and you can still get away, but you'll have to do it in your under pants :D hahaahhhahahaahaha that was funny and dumb, cus all your items are GONE! so don't get cought.
anther thing, if you have low health, note you should be in the north plaza, there is milk, bread, and cookies, i mean coffee on the cat walks. i'll continue later. off to luanch:) okay im back now anyway, in the north plaza food store there are many opps guys in there so its not such a good idea to go in there, unless you have at least 2 mech guns and at the minimum of 4 healh bars, not theres lots of food though so you can heal yourself, grape fruts are best, they give back i think it was three bars back. the opps guys are a bit more in the back so you should have enoguth time to get some food to heal, but try and get the drop on them instede of them getting the drop of you. Like i said the best way to take them out is by shot gun and their mech gun. Note you don't have to go in there if you don't want to. now the atchivments, to get legendary soldier for me was easy, take them two at a time, and make sure that you got some drinks or healing with you and plenty of weps. if they get to close the katana or miny chain saw is best, note you can get the katana in the north plaza if you did not know, its in the same section as the food store entrance.
to get the prefect gunner thing what i did was if do what i read from some one at gamefaqs is go down to the mantanance tunnels then to the butcher place aka the proessing room, where you saw carlito and asked him "give me the folycoly passedword!" and fought that mad man butcher. when you get there take out the zoms in the room, BUT make sure that you have a FULLY LOADED MECH GUN with you, don't use that untill i say, when the zoms are dead take out that
FULLY LOADED MECH GUN and aim right at one of the hagging meat bags and shoot at one untill you are out of ammo, then you should have the prefect gunner atchivment, UNLESS you used some of the ammo or missed or aimed at other meat bag and not just ONE like i said. the next one to get
is the helocopter, this is one of them that you face trying to get to the tunnels, insted of a car full of ideots you have to fight a copter which is pretty tuff if you don't have me telling you how to do it, well what you have to do is "WE INTERUPED YOU TO BRING YOU THIS SPECIL BROD CAST, ALL PC AND LAPTOPS ARE NOW ON SALE AT FUTURE SHOP. NOW BACK TO CREED" and now remember to follow those 5 steps and it will be no probelm. :) just kidding i just had to make you laugh after looking at you computer for a long bum time. anyway heres what you really do, to beat the helocoter you need about 3-4 mech guns with you and a lot of healing. the helocoper has a few attacks, some of them are, when it is flying towards you if shoots two beams of bullets, when this is about to happen and you see it comeing right at you, get ready to jump to the side, and then it goes for a turn around, get your mech gun in your hand and fire for a few sec, then its comes for you again, and this time it may be the same or.... it fires rockets at you, that take all of your healh away pretty much, dodge these like i said and fire at it with the mech gun again untill it drops, BUT Be awhere, its night so the zoms are harder and you can't see as good and DON"T GO NEAR the malll wall or you are TOAST cresspy toast, no really it shoots alot of homing missiles at you then. after that you should get that atchivment. another impostant thing is to be at isabela's said at 10:00am if you want to get over time mode, then she stays behinde and you go to the heliport for your chopper, when he shopws up so does she so don't worry.....
then something dumb happpens and then over time happens right after that. if you beat all case files and get to carlitos hide out in the north plaza where the gun shop is thus where isabella is before it is fully 10:00am aka right before that time and then get your self to the pad you get over time. at 10:00am a quick cut sense happens where the opps are done with the zom wacking and they leave, although in the end they did a pretty sloopy job. on your why to the pad you have nothing to worry about, you got hours to get there so i recomend you save on a backup first and then go to the gun shop and grab some healings and check out game faqs for the thing you have to do in over time. the reason you should get the stuff is then you don't have to do it in over time, cus the opps are BACK and the zoms, other wise it would be toooooooo easy. well thats all for now. if you need anyhelp at all in D.R. just ask, i know allllllllll. DAM how long have i beeen writing
