I just saw it today. Can I just say: Oh my god this is the sweetest flick I've seen in a long time! Hint at the ending: think, Kraken. I can't wait for the next one, supposedly they were shooting it while shooting the second, so it should be out in the next year or so. I can't wait, so many questions left unanswered. The ending is very sad though, but a lot of characters return, some back from the dead, others not so much. Ah it was a really good movie.

One of my favorite scenes (there were a lot of them):

Elizabeth: "You've found a moment to do the right thing"
Jack: "I love those moments, I like to wave at them as they pass by"

I might get to see it this weekend. My friend Ashley works at our local theater and got to see it two days in advance, I was so jealous. So, hopefully I can go with Melissa tomorrow or possibly sometime early during the week.

I def want to see this in theaters sometime, but it'll be booked this weekend i'm sure. The movie looks great and i hope everyone goes and watches it because i have disney stock ;-) (and hopefully they'll enjoy it too, reviews have been pretty good from what i've seen, people say its a bit long but hey i want my money's worth outta a movie)

I'm definately going to see this soon. I loved the first one. I can't go next weekend, but definately the weekend after. I've heard a lot of good things about this movie.

i just came back from the movie!!! I LOVED every bit of it. Johnny, Orlando and Kiera were amazing. :D It wasn't long enough and it was just as enjoyable as the first one. I wanted to stab the heart the whole time... lol can't wait for the next movie! ARRRRRGGHH

My brother and I said the same thing. All I have to say about this movie is meh... It wasnt as good as the first, but what is? The best part was the Transformers trailer before the movie.

I saw Pirates of the Carribean at a sneak preview. It previewed Wednesday night at 12:20 am. On my birthday. I don't know if I was really tired or what but I slept through half of the movie. The movie seemed to be really long. It ended at 3:00 am. I don't know I just didn't like the fact that it doesn't have a ending. It's just another continuation to the next movie. It did have it's funny parts but I just thought the movie was way to long.

I kno the movie was a lil long. Started at 2:15 but we didn't get out till 5:30. I do have to agree that there were a lot of fny parts in it but like u said, the ending wasnt really an ending.

okay, since I'm an expert apparently (and I just saw it again today) I can tell you the significance of the jar of dirt.

The witch doctor gave Jack the dirt because Davy Jones can only set foot on land once every ten years. Hence the jar of dirt, aka Jack's personal piece of land, and would act as a defense against Davy Jones. It does not work, however, on the Kraken, which was pretty obvious by the end of the movie.

I went to see this movie last night with a friend of mine, and overall - I'm somewhat disappointed. Jack Sparrow is PoTC, and he doesn't get as much time on-screen as he should've. Another thing that kidna bothered me is that this movie doesn't feel as dark as the first one, and it seems like they went for safing a pretty low rating, so they could make more cash.
It woudn't take that much to make it just a bit more creepy, just let the Kraken attack at night, and it would look cooler, and you would also avoid another annoyance - the sloppy rendering of the Kraken. This could be me being really picky, but in this day and age (and with a $200+ million budget) I expect the special effects to be flawless, but in several of the scenes, its quite easy to see that the real-life elements doesn't mix as good with the Kraken as they should. Just take a look at the last scene with Jack and the Kraaken, either the Kraken's a bit blurred, or Jack is. Hmph.

There were still a lof of awesome scenes, and it had me laughing at several occasions, the swordfight on the water-wheel were awesome :D

And regarding the ending... what the hell? Yes, I do know that we're getting the third one next year or so, but this movie didn't really make any conclusions at the end - and people critized LoTR: The Two Towers for having a sloppy ending...

So overall I'm disappointed, but it's still better than most of the movies I've seen recently. With Pirates of The Caribbean: The Curse of The Black Pearl being so damn awesome, Dead Man's Chest got some huge shoes to fill, and it doesn't quite match the first one.

We went to go see it for my birthday last saturday and I dont know, I thought it was great in the begining, kinda lax (but ovbviously still good) in the middle and then the ending was really great. I mean they weren't looking for an ending, just a wide opening for the third.
