Yea I can play anything but when I do the system wants to cut itself off. Earlier I was on the dashboard chatting on XBL and it done it again, Im thinking about calling Microsoft and tell them my proplem. Dont worry though, I still own an original Xbox, I,ll hook it up on XBL and play online.
The patterns of the flashing red light are actually designed to be a diagnostic error code which can help identify the issue, try googling it or contacting microsoft and they'll help you through what exactly is wrong with the system. Good luck.

hey Rip thanks, I sure will do that.
If its 3, its a hardware failure, mine did that earlier today. I restarted it and it worked fine but before ithe screen went black and 3 red lights showed up,

If this just happens during Xbox 1-emulated games, I would try to clear the cache on your harddrive, and re-download the emulator software. If you're only getting the left side of your ring of light lit up, then it's overheating. Three quadrants lit up, and you're screwed.

I thought maybe it was a disc-read error, but I'd go with Gangster on this one.

Here (http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/repair/Xbox-360-error-codes.htm) is a little page on all of the error codes (that we know of), and their corresponding "ring of lights". Hope this helps.

Well tr i had the same problem with my launch 360 crapped out dec 18th but microsoft had me a new one which arrived on christmas eave-a saturday no less.
Before calling microsoft i unplugged it waited til the next day and tried again ,worked at first but still crapped out-i'd prepare for your cardboard coffin.
(first shut down was dec 17th) I had a problem removing the game so what i found was if you power on and immediatly push eject you can get the game out if you wait for the red rings chances are good the tray won't open.
I highly recommend the inercooler a snap on set of fans that power on/off with your system and work in both horizontal or vertical positions.

That's good however the sad fact is that by mid feb 07 they'll be selling a more eficent
cooler running 360. All 360's to date are .95 nanomeiters but the new systems
will be a .65 nanomeiters meaning a smaller chipset concurently generating far less heat.
Of corse there's no way to tell a .95 from a .65 next year as a wite or green box is simply that but by this time 07 all systems in stores will likely be .65 systems.
the dashboard gives me hell on doa 4 x_X
You can plug it into the wall and check the power draw ;) shouldn't be much different really, but the heat thing will help further reduce the failure rates. Really the 65nm move is better for MS because it means they can manufacture more chips on each wafer, which means that each chip costs lest to manufacture....which means they loose less money on each console. Cost reduction is crucial for them.

AHH Fusion That sucks. the same thing happened to me though the freezing and red lights got so bad that eventually I couldnt get it to work but microsoft replaced mine for free and it only took 10 Days they were really quick.
