Way too much money for a phone that you will only be able to use in the safety of your own home. Someone even tried to steal one from a Fox News reporter on camera today.

Too much hype, not enough features.... it's an iPhone, and you can't even use MP3's as ringtones fercryinoutloud!

Its also a palm pilot and a ipod video with a larger HD, i wish i wouldn't have bought my ipod now and had waited, but i will probably buy one anyways and at least attempt to put it in an expense report even if i don't get a service for it

While the multi-touch interface has been getting rave reviews, there are a lot of glaring issues still with this phone. After all it is a first generation product, look at how long it took the ipod to get all of the quirks ironed out. If you're interested in an iphone, i'd suggest waiting - no 3g, no GPS, stuck on EDGE, recessed headphone jack, lack of 3rd party support, no chat software (only txts), can't send multiple texts, major issues with e-mail (can't differentiate between inbox and junk e-mail), can't replace battery (if you're using it in place of all the devices its meant to replace, you'll be charging it 1-2 time per day at least), batt life of only 3-400 charges, battery hasn't been getting quite the advertised time (its not too bad for a newly introduced product), only mono over bluetooth, camera has no flash, can't record videos....the list goes on. Just not worth the money right now. It does a lot of things right, people say the ipod function is spectacular, multi-touch is nice. But if this is an important investment (and it should be), i'd suggest waiting till the 2nd or 3rd gen. The iphone certainly isn't going anywhere, thats for sure, and they'll fix a ton of the gripes next time around.
