View Full Version : Getting A Wii, Any Suggestions?

I'm getting a Wii sometime next week or the week after. What game should I buy with it? (only one not 5) I was thinking of Wii sports or Wii play or Mario Party 8 but does anyone else have any suggestions?

it all depends on what you want your wii experience to be.
i like red steel. for a quick first time fps with the wiimote it works really well.
spiderman 3 is a blast to go webbing around, but not really worth the amount of money it is. but still fun.
mario party 8 does look extremely fun. but the question is do you always have at least 2 other people to play it with at all times. cause that game is worthless without 2 or even just 1 other person.
wii sports comes with the wii.
zelda: twilight princess is a must have for every wii owner that likes adventure games. however if you dont like adventure games then dont get it.
excite truck is amazingly fun for a racing game. if your into racing games i recommend this one as well.
i know you said to say which one to buy but i gave you some choices for what kind of gamer you are as i dont know.

Thanks, I mostly enjoy shooters racing and that stuff so maybe (Since the Wii Sports comes with it) my dad will buy excite truck for me then later I will buy Red Steel since i've played it before at Ebash.

Well its all in your taste, I personally love Zelda and think it is the best game out for it. If you can only get one game that game will last you, its pretty long and even if the story is quick(which it really isnt) then you still have lots of extra's to do.
Another fav. of mine is TMNT. Its pretty fun, what I don't like about it is the fighting, its all pretty repeat and you have to swing your remote over and over. But still if you like TMNT then it is a fun game.
Lets see Red Steal, I don't recommend to get for your first and only game at the moment. It will get boring, and the graphics arent really that great. Personally I enjoy the gameplay but it really isn't that "fun" and you will probably loose interest pretty quickly like I did.
Call to Duty is pretty cool. I haven't played it to much but my boyfriend really likes it and its probably his favorite. The game play is pretty quick, the graphics aren't to shabby, and it is fun. If you like war games its the best one for the Wii right now.
Monkey Balls cool as ****. Fun fast passed game to just have fun with. No story line or anything like that. Just play with the balls :)
If your aren't getting it right away you could just wait for the Resident Evil Chronicles to come out! I am going to get those at release :) I say no other games matter after this realese to me lol, they are going to be to cool with the remote. I say got to get Resident Evil, when it comes out...which was suppost to be this month or next. Anyways hoped this helped a little :)

NO THANKS! That game scared me when it first came out for PS1! I thought about it and I thought of another choice that gamestop has... Elebits, everyone of my friends say it's super fun.

I want to thank you all for your suggestions! I now have my Wii and I love it! Out of all the games I took over Excite Truck. But I cant get enough of Wii Sports it so much fun. And I got it online and all that stuff and I noticed the first update I got (It's downloading rite now) takes very long. Owell ill have to live with it. But thank you all for your suggestions!

I don't personally own a Nintendo Wii but i have played some of the games, Wii sports is awesome especially bowling. Also i have seen Call Of Duty for it and with the controller set up it is a really cool experience even though it may not be that great in the graphics department.

Thats just me, you may like it if you like the shoot people games.
ANd the horror games.

Yeah the first ever update does take awhile. After that they move a little faster. Man you have a ton of channels to catch up on...I would spend some time in the Wii shop, there are some great games there.
Right now, for me, it's all about Mario Kart, which I finished a few days ago finally lol. Besides that I've been doing Wii Fit and I still play Wii Sports and Wii Play.
When I want some FPS I play Medal of Honor, when I want something relaxing I play Endless Ocean or Super Mario Galaxy.
When I have friends or family over it's all about Mario Party 8, Super Smash Brothers Brawl, and MK. I have a few others, but those are the ones I play the most.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned the Virtual Console or WiiWare. There are some very nice choices. Some of the VC games I have are Super Mario Bros., Star Fox 64, and Pokemon Puzzle League!!

While i'm not sure what kind of gamer you are / tastes in games...when i buy nintendo hardware it's because of METROID,MARIO and ZELDA!! Excite truck's a nice 2 player game but mario kart's a 4-player online game and while getting both would be great i'd get kart 1st. Smash brawl,mario galaxy,coruption,zelda,zack and wiki(not nintendo but great) and capcom's okami will do nicely. Nintendo's bringing over pikmin 1,2 and METROID PRIME 1,2
from gcn recycled with wii controls now. Even DK:Jungle Beat will be brought over from gcn to wii.

Most of those games weren't out when I got my Wii... lol look when I posted that.
You mentioned you liked shooters, I would highly recommend Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. That, and of course, Super Smash Brothers Brawl. Definitely check those out when you get a chance.

Yeah, I agree with Kihu-- my top game for the Wii is Metroid Prime 3. Shooting things with a storyline-- my kinda game. There's also "obstacle course"-like situations that are reminiscent of old-school Mario games. And, of course, the virtual console is great if you're into games that were on previous platforms like N64 and SNES.

What !!! Nobody has mentioned getting Wii-play. This is a must there is soooo much fun to be had here and you get a wii-remote chucked in too...
In my household we have a lot of fun doing the 'Everybody Votes' Channel, the other channels are okay, but you'll want the updates the the photo channel.

I personally agree with Slaughter - Zelda is an ace game too and don't forget you can also play gamecube disks in your wii too, there are plenty of good cube games out there for the taking and cheap on auction sites.......
