i have a few questions, btw im not trying to be mean at all by this post.

1. Why are the forums down so often? when the forums are going to go down can we get a notice. Also when the forums are down can we see a page that says something along the lines of "forums under construction" or something like that?

i noticed that changes were made to the forums while it was "down". but its nice to know that they are down for maintenance.

2. compared to the original forums these forums = SLOW. im not sure if its because its being run off of a free server or whatever. im not completely sure how forums run but these forums are very slow for me. they arent dial up slow but i should be able to read a thread from the main page within 2-3 seconds. it usually takes more than 10 to load the page.. i suppose its not that bad but still.. every other forum ive been on it loads in a snap.

This recent downtime was out of our control. Unfortunately it appears that BBF (our webhost) has been down recently every sunday for extended periods of time. We're trying to get in touch with them to understand exactly why that is the case.
Due to the topology of the net, users in some locations may be experiencing some trouble accessing certain sections of the website, or could potentially experience some slowdowns. We have a lot more features on this site which can create a multitude of additional connections from your browser. Also its quite possible that there is just a bad hop between you and our webhost - it could be one of many other reasons as well. I haven't had any issues with loading times, and the complaint doesn't seem to be universal so its difficult to pinpoint any specific issues.
Whenever the forums are down for just forum upgrading stuff you'll be informed of that through a vbulletin message. The server was down in this case so we couldn't even access the site.

Hope that helps inform at least a little.

You are the first to report forum load time issues. It takes less then a second for me to load any page. It is just you.

Also yes we are having trouble with our webserver going down on Sundays. That is out of our control.

What happened to the gamer cards?
I hope you didnt decide to remove them.. for me they were a very nice thing to have on the forums. not only for easy adds of gamertags but so you can see what people play.

Snake, i dont like how you changed the posting to not show up after you post. I have to refresh my page to see what i put and if it doesn't show, i do a double post. Sometimes it even gives me an error message for just posting in the quick reply. Is this supposed to happen now?

Yes I removed the custom infraction/warning mod I applied yesterday. We will just stick with the default one we have now.

I have made some changes to how avatars work. If you are a regular user (non clan member) you must have 100 posts and signed up for over 30 days to upload a custom avatar. (It takes a few hours to promote you). Else you have to use our avatar maker. It takes your post count and you purchase items to create your avatar. I will be redoing the forum structure in the background here, many of you will not notice many huge differences, however some of the PMS | H2O members will notice a much more organized layout when these are complete. Along with this, permissions will be revamped, please post any permissions issues in this thread as well. (You shouldn't notice anything for a few days at least, there's a lot of forums!)

Could you remove the automerge? Sometimes it is easier to organize items in different posts. This goes especially for attendance posts, rosters and the like. If it is not possible due to the non-members spamming. Could you change it on the sub-forums that are accessable to PMS/H2O's only? H2O Arena for example.

Sorry its a safety measure. Leaders should be exempt from it so they should be fine for attendance/rosters. And its to prevent people doing it to inflate their postcount.

Thats called a fluid width design. Its done because people with high resolution monitors don't want the forums just like a tiny strip in the center (it'd take up about a third of the screen on my page). Unfortunately in your situation the style we have in place is coded as a fluid width, you may try changing it to the other styles, but i cannot guarantee that any of them are functioning properly.

It would help if you actually posted the username?

Most likely his account got flagged for duplicate registrations on your IP address.

So I just noticed we had not sent an email since April 6th. Thus nobody could register.

I fixed the problem and resent out activation emails to everyone.

They should be good to go now.

I checked my Inbox for any undeleted old msgs that might be the issue, but there's none. Also, the e-mail notification box on my profile is checked, so I should be getting them.

This functionality is intentionally not done, because if you had that functionality you could send PMs as anybody.

The e-mail is the same as the one I signed up with, the same one that I still have on my profile, and I used to get e-mail notifications before but all of a sudden it stopped. It's a hotmail e-mail btw.
They don't go to the spam folder either, and I checked that they aren't blocked.

Hi, Snake. I can't make posts on the PMS Halo 3 Australia division forum. Does access to it need to be enabled by the division leader?

Also the colour of an un-visited link is black, which means links blend in with regular text (also black) unless you mouse over them. Could the link colour scheme be changed, please?

I don't know if this is just me becuz of the operating system/web browser I use, but most of the pages (except the forums) aren't centered. For example, on most pages, you have a few polls and some advertisements on the right side of the page. Then, all the good stuff (main info) is supposed to be right next to it, but it isn't. I have to scroll really far down to see the good stuff. It's centered, but not at the right level.

I hope this makes sense.

Also, if it helps, I use Mozilla Firefox 3 Beta 5 for my web browser. I use Linux Ubuntu Studio as my operating system. Thanks!

I'm having problems with the "view new posts" again. It keeps saying there's no new ones, but I can see that there clearly is. And "View new threads" is the first thing I click when I load the forum.
Do I have to clear the cache every time I'm leaving the forums for it to take effect, or is there some easier way?

I have a question: Why are the colors different for peoples names? Obviously the PMS are red (or pink now) and the H2O's are blue, but what do the different shades mean?

I'm actually going to close this temporarily, it was meant for the old site before we did this switch. there is a pretty long list of things to fix right now. If you have issues with the site that are absolutely critical, shoot me a PM and i'll file a bug report, but anything not terribly important we're going to hold off on until some of the stress from switchover goes away. I'm about to force snake to go get a massage or something or he'll have grey hair before me :p
