I'm sure this was over a PS3. I can't fathom this being over a PSX. That would be even more pathetic.

the system was not the issue here though, it might as well have been anything. the guy had supposedly stolen from them and they weren't going to let him get away with it. they did something stupid by confronting him instead of turning him into the police and the worst possible thing that could happen did. they should have used better judgement.

True, violence like this is sad no matter what. Even something as pety as this. Why are we only hearing this stuff when it's related to Sony? I don't remember anything close to this happening to Big N or M$, not even Sega for that matter.

Sony isn't the only one that has these issues. Here's an article about a 360 crime: http://kotaku.com/gaming/extreme-violence/uk-teen-shot-for-xbox-360-258820.php

People do stupid things over just about anything I don't think the consoles are the only reason for these crimes.

Probably didn't hear about that cus it's from the UK. I wasn't implying that a certain brand is more prone to attract violent behavior, but that it just seems that a Sony product is usually at the core of the conflict. How many times has someone been shot over a Wii?

Well when companies hype up products, and are unable to deliever the amount of consoles needed to fill consumer demands, or mark up thier products to the point that only those with some real disposable income can afford, this kind of action happens. It is a sad thing cause it is a tragic and sad waste to see these things happen and its a glimpse into the the downward spiral our society faces.

To this day I have never heard of anyone getting shot over a wii, I have heard of people getting injured in games of Wii sports, but they shouldn't have tried to beat me. The whole violence thing is just sad, but regardless of it involving video games, I could see a thief of anything acting this way if cornered.

How many times has someone been shot over a Wii?

That wasn't my point of posting the link. It was to show that it happens with other things as well. The question isn't how many times someones been shot over a console but why is someone even trying to steal something from another? It all boils down to the criminal mindset. This could have happened over a car, or a piece of jewerly. What makes this crime any different? Because a new console was involved? That's not the core problem here.

If You think that's bad you should look at the one with a Kid Who Murdered his friend(16 years of age) over Warcraft; they had gotten into an argument over the game and later that day they found the kid Strangled, The Murderer tried to hide the body in the attic but since it was so heavy he decided to Cut off his legs from a little above the knee. He did not finnish the task of taking the body downstairs and left a bloody mess along with the mangled Body for the police to find... This happened in Brazil and there are some Gruesome Pics to prove it but I don't wanna link that kinda thing onto this site.
News Article (http://www.tranexp.com:2000/InterTran?type=url&url=http%3A%2F%2Foglobo.globo.com%2Fpais%2Fmat%2F2 007%2F07%2F24%2F296941714.asp&text=&from=pob&to=eng).
I can show you the gruesome Pictures... But I won't.... To horrific to look at... Read the story, It makes us gamers look bad, No wonder some people are on our cases with games like GTA cause ignorant minded people. More to blame are the parents though.
Read the article though and you'll see what I mean.
I messed up on some details, Victim's age is 12 Years old.

We really don't know for sure who was at fault here. What if the shooter didn't steal the system? What if the three guys thought he stole the system and they all tried to gang up on him? If that's what happened then he really was defending himself. Personally I don't believe in carrying guns because there's a good chance and innocent person could be killed wrongfully. In my opinion the shooter was wrong for having a gun on him and the three other guys were wrong for confronting him. If you change one or both of those factors no one would have died.
