Question about storage methods for the Wii

Virtual Console (and various computer things) has managed to fill up my 1 gig memory card that I got with my Wii and unfortunately, I don't have the money to go out and buy another one. I do, however, have an external hard drive from my old laptop that haven't needed to use since I got my new one with more hard drive space. So I figure that maybe I could hook it up into one of the USB ports and use it for storage of VC games.

What I want to know (before I drag it out of storage) is does this method work? Will the Wii read and respond to my external?

Uhhhh.... I'd have to say that it wouldn't work do to the fact that many systems only respond and comply with what it was made to connect with. For instants the PSP. Only certain memory cards work with it. You should probably just buy a smaller memory card (Like a 150 mb) and just switch them off with what you need and don't need. The 150 mb is only $20 from Gamestop.
