This happened earlier today in Halo 2.

Earlier today, fed up with people obsessed about their ranks, I decided to start deleveling. Not in some ways. I didn't commit suicide constantly nor did I plan to boost my way back up. I just left the controller and console running and read Game Informer.
Well. In my third or fourth match of deleveling goodness, I decided to plug my mic in and play. I planned to just run around like a n00b and get killed.
In the lobby before the game started, detailing the map info and gametype, one cheery fella decided to say "Hi, Sgt Siercks!". I merely replied "I don't know you, but hi!". Well, when the match started up, I realized my team was composed of one modder and two groupies. By groupie, I mean person who went into the match with the modder, hoping to boost their rank.
Well. This modder starts doing his good (by good I mean bad) style of work. People on the other team start quitting. One, two, three. I panicked. I didn't want to win this game and let modders get away with it. So I did the honorable thing: I started killing myself.
I didn't plan to do this in the game, nor does it seem honorable to some of you, but I couldn't let the modder win this.
After about five suicides, the modder and posse start to notice. They start saying "Hey man, don't kill yourself. We'll boost your rank!" and whatnot. But I persisted. The game was fairly even. 4v1, well, 1v1, if you continue reading you'll find out why.
So. The modder gets agitated. He sends his posse on me, setting their handicaps on severe and hoping to get blown up by my grenade, initiating a betrayal and possible boot. Well. I have my own posse going. Where I go, they follow. Closely. I start messing around, humming the Oompa Loompa song while acting it out with the groupies. Well. The game is getting close. Too close. I make a break for a wall, chuck a nade with ricochets and kills me.
The modder instantly gets mad. So. The modder is trying to deal with the straggler on the opposing team while his groupies are dealing with me. Essentially, 1v1. I keep the groupies on my tail; chucking grenades ahead of myself so that only I can reach them. The modder, who has super-speed and super-jump, even tries to get close to a nade, but he is impervious to my grenades.
He starts yelling at his groupies for not doing their job. After a few suicides, they surround me. Alas, here is the straggler, chucking a grenade, killing the groupies (since they had handicaps on) and wiping me out with SMG fire.
The straggler has a ten-kill lead over the modder, even with the modder's ubar-jump. The groupies start calling me a *** and the like, ironic considering who is deploying the message. They ask the modder to leave, who sternly denies the request.
Approaching three minutes to go and a similar lead still going, the gang starts getting desperate. They shoot me, not fully killing me, but enough: Trying to send the message they want to die. I don't let them. They then leave the game, just me, the modder, and the straggler. All it takes is one suicide to send the message, and the modder leaves. I then preceed to play a normal game with the straggler and lose, unable to overcome the deficit.
Ah, victory in defeat.
