Anyone listen to Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Tony MacAlpine? They are the by far best guitarists alive right now and I'd have to say Satriani is better then Hendrix....

You are leaving out:
1. Zakk Wylde
2. John Petrucci
3. Alexi Laiho
4. The "Rev"
5. Mark Knopfler
6. Herman Li
7. John Mayer
8. Tom Morello
9. Malmsteen
There are tons of really insane guitarists right now. Matter of fact, from a technical standpoint, most metal leads are as technically sound as Vai and Satriani, where Satriani and Vai just have incredible sounds and style. Jack White is also a very talented guitarist. It's hard to judge style, because most people have different tastes. For example, Flamenco is incredibly hard to play, but rarely gets recognition.
To answer your question though good man, yes, I do like prg metal and the like from time to time, but I admire their talent.

Dude, Zakk can play. Like I said also though man, it's style too. Malmsteen can play super fast, but I don't think the guy has crap for style; just MHO though.
