h2o mystakin: We'll start with the softest of softballs, tell us a bit about yourself and what you do within PMS Clan.
Retro H2O: Well, I am your average gamer geek. Outside of work, most of my time consists of playing one game or another on a variety of consoles. Currently, I am Co-General for the H2O Xbox Platform.
h2o mystakin: What originally got you into video games?
Retro H2O: I know this will sound stereotypical, but I have been playing video games since I was 5. My brother and I got our first NES for Christmas in 1989 and, like most, I became obsessed with helping Mario out. My first game was the Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt cartridge, but I think I spent the most time on Excitebike, building my own race tracks. That and being disappointed that Duck Hunt only had 99 levels before wrapping back to the first level.
h2o mystakin: Haha, what eventually lead you to PMS Clan and made you join?
Retro H2O: Well, I was getting pretty annoyed playing random matchmade games where people just didn't care about the game. Then, after watching season 1 of WCG: Ultimate Gamer and seeing Amy, I decided to check out what game clans were all about. I originally thought clans were only for PC mmo games, but after checking out pmsclan, I was intrigued. So I signed up and started recruitment into Halo division
h2o mystakin: And your experience in the Halo division eventually lead to becoming an XBOX co-general?
Retro H2O: Sure did. Moved up through the ranks of the Halo division, learning and helping out my fellow clan members along the way.
h2o mystakin: For people who may not know, what does the job of a general entail?
Retro H2O: We oversee the various divisions of our platform making sure each of them is running smoothly and helping the staff of each division with anything they may need
h2o mystakin: Rad. How did you come up with your H2O tag? Any story behind it?
Retro H2O: Haha, well... When I first joined the clan 3 years ago I went by the tag Th3Danza, given to me by some friends of my wife who thought they could take me on in Halo 3. Apparently I had shown them "who's the boss" during the match and the name had stuck. During my recruitment, however, I quickly learned that I was not Tony Danza and started thinking of a new name that best described me. At the time, I was the oldest member of the division and I still love playing and collecting the older consoles and games. I also was looking for something that was easy to say, so when I thought of my retro gaming sessions, I decided it was perfect for me.
h2o mystakin:: Are there any retro games in particular that you always come back to or insist everyone must play?
Retro H2O: Star Fox on the SNES. Yes, the graphics are lacking by today’s standards, but definately a favorite. Of course, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and GoldenEye are must plays! Adventure Island and Bart Simpson vs. The Space Mutants on the NES and Joust on Atari or NES for the real old school types.
h2o mystakin: Star Fox is a crazy game in retrospect. I don't think anyone thought the SNES could do a game like that when it originally launched.
Retro H2O: Honestly, Star Fox is the entire reason I play all my FPS games on inverted
h2o mystakin: Haha, as you should!
h2o mystakin: Do you have any shoutouts you wanna give?
Retro H2O: I'd like to shout out to the recruitment manager that helped me become an H2O: Maverick Prime H2O. Also, one hell of a co-division leader, FantomexX H2O, and I don't wanna leave out the lovely Elektrafox PMS and Emma Frost PMS who make playing Halo an amazing experience.
h2o mystakin: As a final note, what are 5 things people may not know about you?
1) I own 14 consoles and 5 handhelds ranging from the Atari 2600 to the 360 and PS3.
2) I used to be into playing Magic: the Gathering and still have my almost 10,000 cards, and am looking into getting back into tournament play.
3) I have a dog named Chewie. He's a chow and I've gotten him to come when I roar like Chewbacca from Star Wars.
4) I like to cosplay. I'm currently working on a Hylian Shield from Legend of Zelda and am looking for some finishing touches on a Captain N, Game Master outfit
5) I actually met my wife playing Amped 2 on the original Xbox
