Get to know our eSports & Pro Team Director, H2O prawfeT!

H2O Mystakin: Tell us a bit about yourself and what a typical day in the life of H2O prawfeT entails.
H2O prawfeT: Well, my name is Eric Metcalf. I’m 22 years old and I was born in the middle of nowhere, Maine, haha. Currently, I live in Pittsburgh and am working while attending Full Sail University.
H2O Mystakin: Funny, I was born in the middle of nowhere, Pennsylvania. It must be named after the town in Maine.
H2O prawfeT: When I say nowhere, I mean the nearest mall is 2 hours away and the first gas station is about 45 mins, haha.
H2O Mystakin: You're speaking my language. Though, we do have a gas station in town and one street light, so maybe we trump you.
H2O prawfeT: You have a street light?!
H2O Mystakin: Haha, I think you've sufficiently out-small-towned me
H2O prawfeT: I should probably admit I’m super competitive.

H2O Mystakin: Getting us back on track, what originally got you into gaming?
H2O prawfeT: While living in the middle of nowhere, there’s really not a lot to do. A long time ago, my uncle was getting a new pc and dropped his old one off at our house with a copy of Doom. I ended up playing that, pacman, and asteroids a lot. Then I moved on to RollerCoaster Tycoon, haha.
H2O Mystakin: RollerCoaster Tycoon is a forgotten classic as far as I’m concerned.
H2O prawfeT: Agreed. I played a few games casually until I was about 13. That’s when I picked up Call of Duty 1 and fell in love with it. I had dial-up at the time, so I played primarily single player. When I picked up multiplayer, my 200 ping would usually result in getting myself owned. After doing really well in a random match, though, I got asked to join my first clan. A week after my tryout, I was asked to compete in my first scrimmage. It was all downhill from there; I was hooked.

H2O Mystakin: So you mentioned joining your first clan, what eventually lead you to PMS clan and what made you interested in joining?
H2O prawfeT: When Call of Duty 4 first came out, I decided to get into a clan that was larger than what I was used to. I ended up finding PMS clan on a public server and sent in my app the next day. I played with them a few times and had a lot of fun. After figuring out there was a lot to this competitive gaming thing, I was like “Yeah. I want to do that! I want to be a pro gamer!” So, I stuck around and got to meet everyone, including Ticorah back when she was CoD4 PC Division Leader.
H2O Mystakin: And then, naturally, your competitive spirit lead you to eSports and Pro Team director?
H2O prawfeT: Haha, well... a few bumps along the way. Actually, a week after joining PMS clan, Ticorah asked me "What do you want out of the clan?" Of course, I was like “I want to be a pro gamer” and she basically shut my dreams down and broke my heart, haha. I’m only joking, but she told me how it was and that’s what I needed at the time. My competitiveness kicked in, so I actually ended up leaving the clan after 6 months because the division slowly faded and I wasn’t ready to give up on this pro gaming thing. I started a small team, went and played for about a year, and we got to the level we needed to be at. Then, I decided I was going to put in an app to come back as a small team. I left the clan on good terms and missed the community a lot. After some intense meetings with Ticorah and others, they agreed to let us in under strict rules. That was probably 2 years ago, maybe 3.

H2O Mystakin: And you are eSports/Pro Teams director now on top of all that, could you describe what responsibilities that entails?
H2O prawfeT: Basically, I’m responsible for all of our Professional & Competitive teams. It’s my job to make sure our players are actively competing in leagues, tournaments, and other events, repping our community to the fullest. My staff and I also make sure our pro teams and players are trained in the Public Relations & Interview process so when they are out at events, they don’t get too nervous and make the same mistakes I made back in the day.
H2O Mystakin: So you keep our pro players in line, basically.
H2O prawfeT: In a way, yes. If you want money and support at a pro level, you gotta prove it to me first, haha.

H2O Mystakin: We've talked a lot about competitive games, but what's your favorite franchise that isn't tied to a tournament scene?
H2O prawfeT: Hmm, that’s tough. I would have to go with the Elder Scrolls series. I can get lost in time so easily playing those games.

H2O Mystakin: Are there any cool stories attached to how you came up with the handle H2O prawfeT?
H2O prawfeT: Well, yes. Back when I was playing Call of Duty 1, I used my last name as my gamertag. Even back then, I had a strange gaming sense that allowed me to predict other players & teams in matches. In a finals match back in a CoD1 tournament, we were in overtime and I told my teammates that two guys were gonna rush from the middle and one from the side while the rest watched the bombsite. Of course, they thought i was just guessing but that’s exactly what the other team did and we ended up winning thanks to my calls. After that, they started calling me a prophet because of my prediction and it kind of stuck. A year or so ago I just switched up the spelling to be cool, haha.
H2O Mystakin: Haha, no reason for the capital T?
H2O prawfeT: That was a team thing. We all had capital letters at end of our names. It’s carried over from that.

H2O Mystakin: As a wrapup, any shoutouts to other PMS/H2Os or people in general?
H2O prawfeT: Huge shoutout to Ticorah for all her help and support. Shoutout to my boys and everyone in the PMS|H2O Community who has supported our team over the past few years. Get ready for some awesome stuff from us this season and even more awesome stuff from the eSports side of the clan!

H2O Mystakin: Final question, what's 4 cool things that people might not know about you?
H2O prawfeT:
1.) I love to hunt, fish, and anything to do with the outdoors. I got a state record in Maine for largest deer in 2009.
2.) People may not know that I actually ran my own professional gaming organization for a year before selling it.
3.) In the event of a zombie attack, I’m hiding in a tree because it works in Minecraft.
4.) I really suck at answering these random questions.
